I am coming to N.Cyprus in august with my family for a holiday and wondered if anyone could give me any info on grocery shopping ie the prices of bread, milk, water, potatoes and meat. I have been to the lemar supermarket previously but just bought news papers as i was staying in a hotel so didnt pay much attention to the grocery side of the market. Also would i be better off buying the meat from the supermarket or a butchers? many thanks in advance Dan

dan3006, I find bread is cheaper than Uk shop for fruit and veg at the market, really fresh and very cheap compared to UK Meat and poultry are expensive in both the supermarkets and the butchers but I think the butchers have the edge on price. I think milk is roughly about the same but I am not sure as I only buy soya and that is a lot more than in the UK. Bottled water is a lot cheaper, especially if you buy the very large bottles. When we retire there next year, we are going to turn vegatarian because of the price of meat. The butlers wife

A litre of Longlife milk is 2.35TL (£1 approx) Fresh Milk bit dearer about 2.60TL....... be careful of dates - not fresh every single day. A loaf of uncut Turkish Bread (mmm) is 90kuros (38p) 1 litre Bottled water is Evsu 78kuros 33p Potatoes 3,00TL a kilo (less on the markets). Mince from a butcher today was 500g 14.00TL £5.95 6 Loin type lamb chops 11TL £4.68 4 Cans Effes = 8.80TL £3.70 All salad things are great and quite cheap and fruit in season but won't last so long in the heat. Hope this helps it does vary slightly from shop to shop and the exchange rate! Have a good holiday Charlotte

Agree about price of bread 50k most places and fresh milk is 1.80TL, also lemar doing 1 kilo of mince for 16TL at moment and have been for at least 6 weeks, bit different than 14TL for 500g. Def worth shopping around if you can.
