i take it your check valve is on the balance tank line you need to add one to the inlet line on the clean side of the filter which is where it should be anyway overflow pools are designed for indoor use not supposed to get all sorts of rubbish in them regards j

Nilmoney putting the same type check valve in line with the other is totally pointless as this serves no purpose whatsoever. If one check valve gets stuck whats stopping the other one getting stuck. If you have the type of check valve with the spring in it, then this maybe your problem. The spring type has too many bits for the leaves and bits to get stuck in. I have had a check valve problem now for over a year. The way around it is to put in a very basic check valve the type that is on a hinge and has no other bits like springs and round plastic bits in it. This would be far better than putting the same one in again. Also if you put a fine mesh bag (like the ones the orange come in) under the over flow pipe in your balance tank room to catch all the leaves before they go back into the system again this will also help. make sure that the bag is fixed on very tightly as mine has come off a few times due to the pressure.

ataturk, I think that you missed the point about the 2nd check valve - the idea is NOT simply to put it in line with existing one, in the feed from the balance tank, but to put it on the 'clean water' side of the filter, in the pipe that goes to the jets - that way the 2nd check valve will only ever deal with clean water, so it won't get clogged up with debris. TRNCVaughan insists on this system. I admit that to be 100% secure, you would also need ones on the pipes from the main drain, and the vacuum point

Cant see the point of putting a check valve on the clean water side as there is not much chance of it getting stuck

Ataturk, That's why you put it on the clean water side - so that it cannot get stuck open and thus allow the pool to drain back into the balance tank... It's not there to stop rubbish - it's there to stop gravity from partially emptying your pool when the pump motor isn't running. If that's still not clear, I will be happy to email you a diagram if you email me...
