TracyF Your husband like mine, wants the info but gets you to do the leg work online? Have you also spent hours watching him 'blank' on various rivers, lakes and ponds? My husband would also like to fish from a small boat just off the coast, so would like to know how he gets on. if he wants any info about fishing from the beaches we have made several reconnaisance missions to find the best spot!

Thanks Susie - I must be new at this fishing lark. Hubby usually goes off for a week to Norway with his mates so I don't have to watch any of this "blank" thing that you do!! Where do you recommend for the beach fishing. We are staying in Lapta but have a hire car for 2 wks. Me and out two daughters will be quite happy by our pool awaiting his return with a huge catch that we can barbie!!

Beach fishing is really rather unproductive (to put it politely) as the inshore waters are netted and long lined by fishermen. For any real success from the beaches you need to get away to the Karpas. Trolling for Tuna is the best chance for a hookup along the north coast and it is possible to catch Dolphin fish which is otherwise known as Dorado or Mahi Mahi (NOT a Dolphin mammal before you all get upset) and these are great to eat. the Dolphin fish normally show up around September but aren't abundant. I have caught Yellowmouth Baracuda in the old harbour whilst spinning with small Rapala lures and light line (5 to 10lb). This species is much smaller than the Greater Barracuda but a catch is a catch. Fishing at sunrise or sunset is the best time.
