Stocks of R22 have (ahem!) "found" their way into TRNC and we are now able to service a/c units which are short of gas. We will get around to revisiting those customers who are waiting for re-gassing, but if anyone is particularly desperate please contact us on vaughan@sunnycyprus.net .

Is this the new EU approved gas we put Bosch air conditioners in last year that needed new EU approved gas and as we feel they dont work as well as the old ones this post has caused me to wonder if they have been gassed with the right thing? cant think why this thought would have crossed my mind!!!!

It is to do with the Montreal Protocol, not the EU. R22 refrigerant has been superceeded by R410a as far as domestic split air conditioners are concerned. Nearly all split a/c units come pre-charged, from the factory, with the correct gas in and, unless someone has worked on your a/c since you had it installed, it is unlikely to have the wrong gas in it. You may have lost some gas since installation and this would causes a drop-off in performance. If you require a service please contact me. I would guess that 99% of all split a/c systems in TRNC are R22.

A favour. If you are there and you can read it, could you please tell me the model number on the label on the end of any of the indoor units?
