Can anyone tell me the National average wage in TRNC for employees, also employer national insurance contributions and compulsory pension contributions. Is sick pay mandatory nand if so for how long, what holiday entitlement employees have by law. Also what would be the minimal wage allowed Thank you

Minimum wage I believe is around 1200TL. If you are a civil servant, which it appears a significant amount of TC's are - then too much money for too little work Paul

Minimum wage is 1237TL per month. Will check what we pay for Social Sigorta and Pension Fund - I do know that it is very high per month.

I don't understand this. If the minimum wage is that low how can people afford to live? Anyway you look at it its less than 100 pounds a week mx

The stoppages are paid by the employer. Unlike the UK. where salaries are quoted Gross, any sums here are net pay. Tax only starts at higher sums, so although it isn't much, it's not as low as it sounds & is more than £100 per week. Approx. £530 per month at current exchange rate.

mixie, They eat a LOT of bread at 50 Kuruş a loaf, they grow their own fruit and veg, they drive ANCIENT cars - or none at all, they live in small houses that have had no work done on them for the past 35 years, they don't pay rent, they don't have pools to run, they don't have aircon to run, their wives go out cleaning 'rich' folks' houses, they 'make do and mend', and if they're an immigrant worker, theymay live 6 or 10 to a room... Or they sell the 'Exchange' land that they were granted, and buy themselves a new Merc, and a Lamborghini for the boy... I know that that is not a true reflection of all the population, and that civil servants, or those with specialist skills can earn a lot more (the Government seems to be the majority employer) and I mean no disrespect, but it is a real struggle for some. Yet they are still happier than when EOKA gangs were roaming the countryside...
