Whilst staying at the Malpas I visited Mardo's ice cream shop in Catolkoy and found it to be superb! Run by Ozzie and his wife Kathy, they provide delicious ice cream flavours, milk shakes, ice coffees, all types of snacks, even the real English toasties and sandwiches, tea, coffee and full English breakfasts and all at very reasonable prices!

So those of you who are visiting, don't forget to pop into Mardo's and enjoy the moment. Those who are staying in hotels, make it a point to visit and enjoy the occasional breakfast or brunch out whilst supporting the local small businessman.

I love the place and the people who are providing us with the service. You certainly get to meet many people there, both tourists and local expats! I can assure you that the ice cream is addictive!

It is situated near the Chemist and the Catalkoy Office of Donaghy and Beyler Property Agents.

Where is the Mardo's in Alsancack? When we went out recently it seemed to have closed down. It used to be in the end shop near the bank, opposite he Golden Lady.

Hi Janet

They moved slightly further along, in the direction of Girne.

They are in the same parade of shops as Chicken Run just before Starling ( on right hand side heading towards Girne), opposite Pork Shop.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

Jo

dont bother with the breakfast, at mardos catalkoy, it was recomended so we tried it after waiting nearly an hour after tracking someone down to place the order it arrived just as we were going to cancel it, and it looked like they had put the plates at one end of the room and just thrown the food at it, i dont think supreme have got anything to worry about neadless to say we will be back the supreme for there better breakfast served nicley on the plate and in time !!

Andrew4232, you must be a supreme fan!!

We regularly have brealfast at Mardo's and have always had excellent service and food, even had the odd free coffee thrown in when their not busy.

Ask Jean she pops in every day for her breakfast, has to pass supreme to get there!

I don't think the Esentepe one is quite open yet... but the lights were on at 11pm last night so there must be some late night hours being put in to finish it. I think it's in the parade of units at the front of Turtle Bay by the main road...

Andrew,

I am sorry your "waiting experience" didn't match your expectations.

I have been going there a long time. We can all debate what quality, service and presentation is and should be. Patience is a good virtue!

Just go to tripadvisor and read the diverse reviews of one place, it can be both surprising and illogical but

it is, in the end, all about personal perspective! The choice of words is also important. Whilst I wouldn't go to the Supreme, I wouldn't run them down either. I do still believe that all small virgin businesses need our support!

I can assure you that I don't have to worry about "prices and cost" either and from my perspective I choose the best and enjoy the moment wherever I am.

I wish you much patience Andrew and Mardo's much success! God Bless, John

Never had anything but cracking food and service from Ozzie & Kathy. We have spent many hours there chatting away and will be back in August for our daily fix of pancakes & ice cream.

Jean is an absolute delight to talk with, I hope that I am as game when I reach her age!

We always get a warm welcome when we go to Mardo's in Catalkoy and the food and the ice cream is wonderful. Cant fault it. I take all family and visitors there for a treat.

We all need to support the shops as much as we can.

Good luck for the summer Ozzie and Katherine xxx

Cyprusairsoft,

can you please let Jean know that I have just had to cancel my flight tomorrow for my 2 week visit. My mum is ill and I will be travelling to the UK. I will see her when I fly out on the 26 August for another 3 weeks though.

Thank You.

Was recommended to go to Mardo's (near Tempo supermarket on the Kyrenia road) this morning and went with a lovely family. They told me that the prices had gone up since last year but then doesn't everything - commercial and life; but for 3 TL each my daughter and I tucked into two large scoops of ice cream (30 flavours in all) in a sugar cone and thoroughly enjoyed our experience whilst the queue of local children flocked in. Apparently the outside has expanded since earlier this year but the setting was tranquil considering it is on a main road. I can whole heartedly recommend this ice cream parlour for young and old. The smell of the waffles is mouth watering so I will definitely be going back. Apparently the breakfast is brill too but I personally cannot vouch for it. Mrs Homerj
