Why isn't Turkish Airlines helping out ? I thought CTA was partly financed by Turkey.

begonia - CTA are totally owned by the government of the TRNC and has been for a few years now, thats why no involvement from Turkish Airline.

Tom Burney from IAH was on it and Simon Calder a very badly informed (about the TRNC) travel editor of The Independent newspaper. Good advice from Tom, mostly scaremongering from Simon Calder

As has been stated nothing helpful for those caught up in this mess...

Bottom line is re-book to make alternative arrangements and claim back your unfulfilled ticket costs from your credit card company under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

I couldn't believe how easy it was to rebook at Atlasjet's Girne office. I'd heard so much contradictory information I was expecting the worse. Read the whole story on http://www.northcyprusfreepress.com/2010/07/15/atlasjet-office-in-girne-cta-return-tickets-exchanged-without-fuss/

Sylv Msg 11 - I think that in Msg 9 Groucho was mentioning the more political comments that Mr Calder made. In my view they were not needed but he has his views. They did not explain the complexity of the situation any more than my comments did. There was not enough time in the schedule for any more information to be disseminated.

"take a ferry from the port of trabzon"??? what an idiot - how the hell can you take a ferry form Trabzon to the TRNC? Does he even know where Trabzon is?

Can Msg 13 - I think that Simon Calder was caught on the hop. He is normally good with his facts and may have not thought it all through; (on some points we might also agree to differ). Like me he probably expected to be given more time for a second comment so much of what we might have wanted to say was not said.

Tom,

You are right, I was referring to Simon Calder's political 'nugget' of disinformation, he has obviously not really got his own views on Cyprus, what he has got are the misleading stock phrases the GC propaganda machine peddles.

Instead of giving useful accurate information he was allowed to spout what amounted to a very poorly researched load of GC anti-TRNC sound-bites.... He's been handed a 'fact' sheet by someone and not bothered to verify its content I guess... very poor for someone in his position who is meant to be in the know... it made him seem like a very naive individual.
