I have a "corrupted" iPod apparently! Does anyone have any idea where I could get it fixed? I have tried Laconic, but the guy in there said it would prob have to be in the South and I don't really go that side!

At work at the min, so don't have all my leads n stuff with me, but that link sounds spot on! It's exactly what my iPod is doing!

How come I've spent the last 2 days on google trying to find help and didn't come up with that?!?!?

Will be trying it as soon as I get home, will let you know how I get on!

Thank you..... Lisa

Well, 4 hours sitting at a PC and I can confirm that my iPod is dead! I have not a clue how, as one minute it was working, then it wasn't, but all of the diagnostics point to the drive being physically damaged.....

Does anyone know where I can get this serviced/repaired/cremated?!?!?

Thanks in advance....

The nearest place on the South side that I can think of with any expertise, is between the Ledra Street crossing and the bus station.

Walk as far as the big main road and turn right - you will come to a shop on your right that has the slogan 'Toys For Boys' but I can't remember its name - the guy in there seems to know what he's talking about, so unless anyone has a better idea, I'd give him a go...

Sorry that the 'self-help' thing didn't work!

Try Prisma Computers, south Nicosia. Their phone number is: 22313828 and their e-mail address is: service@prisma.net .cy They are Mac agents and very helpful. When I had a problem with my Mac, they answered my e-mail very quickly and we sorted out the problem with their help. Would definitely use them again.

I had exactly same problem with mine a few months back. It was an ipod clasic 13 months old (of course! I think they program them to self-destruct when warranty expires) Anyway I tried all the usual internet 'fix it yourself' sites and ended up making an appointment to see an 'apple genius' in the Apple store in Manchester when I was next in UK. The 'genius was a spotty geek with his trousers showing 'builder's bum' who connected my ipod to a comupter & did all the tests that I had already done! He then told me that the hard disk had failed and proceeded to try and sell me another, more expensive model! Well I wasn't having that.........he said that because my ipod classic had moving parts inside it was more likely to break! I pointed out that all I did was take it to Cyprus (in a protective case), plug it in a docking station and play music - in their adverts I'd seen people jogging with the things! cont'

msg8 cont

Eventually after a fairly lengthy, noisy exchange in a very busy Apple store, he agreed to replace it with a new one, free of charge. Was worried that I'd lost all my music but plugged in back home, ran a 'sync' and whoopee! perfect.

I don't think there is an actually Apple store on Cyprus but try contacting them via their website and maybe you could pack it up and send it to them for repair/replacement?

Good luck

Maggie

Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to reply. I have found someone going back to UK on Monday, so England bound it is! Will give that a go Maggie, but mine is nearly 2 years old, so don't know if they'll be so accomodating! Totally lost without my music!
