A ping is how long it takes to send a message between 2 computers. In this case your computer and the one you are pinging. It has taken 377ms (milliseconds) to send a message from your computer and get a reply from the other computer.

Hi ZC, is that an ADSL or wireless network connection ? As a means of comparison : In Limas(s)ol the office gets 3.97 down and 0.497 up... [ UK 15.97 down and 0.97 up ] I have an NL one that gives 98.7 down and same up... We are MILES behind some European nations

LaptaMike is absolutely correct. Its actually the speed at which you will upload and download files by what you are saying from a particular address being a DNS, WINS, fileserver or application server.if you gleaned this information from speedtest.net that is. The other figures are the download speed and upload speeds in megabytes .78mb and .11mb. mmmmmm 15.97mb download .97mb upload, not sure what you would need that amount of bandwidth for unless you love movies of course. Just jealous!

tracer, just like to point out that is 61.52 megabit not megabyte. Huge difference. Still very impressive though.

Tracer, Are you on ADSL or wireless broadband? That's an impressive result; my son in Hong Kong only (!) has 18Mbs. I've recently upgraded to 2Mbs wireless and I find it's fine for my needs. The little boy inside me still wants more, though!

this is my Extend speedtest result for a supposedly 1Mbit service. The speed dropped while I was away, as it did for a neighbour. I've asked for the speed to be change from the current 512Kbit but have so far been ignored. Luckily I haven't paid this month's charge yet. http://www.speedtest.net/result/883332532.png
