I have been quoted so far £2,500 and £4,000 for painting a 4 bed villa (two floors) 200M2 internal area labour only.

By the wildest stretch of the imagination this seems hugely overpriced Based on two men for no more than ten days, one skilled one not ,I am struggling to get to 1K for labour let alone the nonsense I have been quoted.

There are a few cracks to fill and soffits to varnish

Can any of you chaps recommend somebody and suggest a price.

Quelle surpris!! the only cracks hat haven't opened up were the ones I repaired myself!

Many Thanks

£4000 is quite overpriced but it is highly unlikely you will find anyone that would decorate the interior of your villa properly for less £2000.

We have just completed a villa of similar size, all walls & ceilings required 3 coats of paint and as you have mentioned plenty of cracks were filled & prepared, bearing in mind temperatures it took me and my partner 2 weeks to finish the job.

Are the quotes you have from local TC/turkish companies?

The reason I ask is that many Brits go over there to start painting/property maintenance businesses and expect to be able to charge what they do in the UK.

I've heard on here that the average monthly wage in the TRNC is 1200TL.

Therefore if the villa could be painted by 2 men in 2 weeks this would be 1200TL.

Even if you doubled it you would only get 2400 TL.....say £1000.

Add £250 for materials , and you should be able to get it done for £1250 and everybody be happy !

Can recommend some guys......who did my house (mainlanders). They also filled the cracks etc. We bought all the materials. They told us what to buy. Actual labour cost was 300tl. My house is a lot smaller than yours......but still, they will be considerably cheaper than what you have been quoted.

My hubby has their number, I will post it later.

Msg 3 yes that is the minimum wage but for a skilled painter they earn between 80 and 100 tl a day....

Materials can be exspensive here if, better to use the better quality ones, it will prove dividends later on..

Give me a call and I will give you a very reasonable quote, we have excellent painters on our team...

who also plaster and repair...

Thanks Tony

You've been quoted 'English' rates.

I had the whole of my house done last year (in the UK), all doors, Walls, ceilings, skirts, all rubbed down, paint and materials supplied by the Painters. £900.

I did the outside of my bungalow villa myself, 3 coats - waterproof, textured, normal paint (as recommended by Marshalls.) Material costs (including brushes etc) £250. Time 7 days, about 5hrs per day. This saved me the ridiculous £1000 (ex. materials) I was quoted for 100m2 of wall. So, I was paying myself about £30ph and the quality was at least as good as the original paint job.

Hi Cronos,

"I've heard on here that the average monthly wage in the TRNC is 1200TL."

That's not the average, that's the minimum national wage, set by the gov.
