I am bringing a baby to Alsancak in a couple of weeks. Do the supermarkets sell fresh cow's milk, not UHT. Thanks

It's available fresh on Tuesdays Thursday and Saturdays... on other days it may be sold out.

If you want milk like we have in the uk, I would say walk across the ledra street crossing in nicosia and pick up a couple of pints in debenhams. I love milk but can't stand the stuff they call fresh milk here. Please don't expect it to be quite the same as UK milk.

All 'fresh' milk for sale is re-constituted from milk powder in Cyprus - North or South! Er, where do you see contented cows grazing in paddocks of lush green grass......wake up, you Poms! There are a few miserable specimens of cows here - drink their milk at your peril!

My children really like the 'fresh milk'(they have drunk it from 12 months) it tastes much better than the UHT which they will not drink. You can also buy powdered baby formula here.

Tenakoutou Sorry but I don't believe that's true. I've seen the milk wagon collecting milk from dairy farms. If, as you say, all fresh milk was re-constituted from powder they wouldn't have the outages that occur, would they? Shut downs ordered by Health officials - when they don't approve the purity and quality of the milk waiting to be bottled. The milk fed to calves probably is reconstituted from powder as it often is in the UK, this quite normal.

Taze Sut - Turkish for fresh milk. Don't get confused and buy the thin yogurt. Cows wandering through our complex earlier in the year looked healthy enough to me.
