For all those who keep asking for in flight ent. on KTHY you might like to read this found on MSN news today. A US airline has admitted it is to start phasing out in-flight films. US Airways says it will start removing the entertainment systems on domestic flights in November to save about 10 million dollars (£5 million) annually in fuel and other costs. Spokesman Phil Gee said the film systems weighed about 500lbs (227kg) each, forcing planes to use more fuel to get around the country. Jet fuel costs have skyrocketed in recent years, slashing profits and leading to thousands of layoffs and flight cuts throughout the industry. Gee said US Airways would cut the film systems from about 200 aircraft. But it would keep movies in its widebody aircraft for international flights and trips to Hawaii. US Airways said it would test a lighter, seat-back TV system later this year. However, Gee said that a new entertainment system was a long way off.

dunno about in-flight entertainment but poor old cyprus turkish airlines was mentioned and I would like to share my experiences of reserving flights kthy operate a telephone booking service from a london number not premium rate, and may issue a booking reference and then hold the tickets in reserve for several months if necessary obviously if any fuel surcharges are introduced you will have these added on if you delayed paying for your tickets I don't know of other airlines who will reserve your tickets if you did not yet pay for them in the spring I wanted to book august bank holiday flights, obviously all full up but kthy alotted us a booking reference nonetheless... to be available only in the event of any cancelllations coming up: this did in fact happen recently and I gratefully stumped up for the flight lastly they do not ask for a surcharge on credit card purchases andre

andre, My reference to KTHY was purely tongue in cheek. We never had all this entertainment stuff years ago and we managed without no problem!! On long haul it is slightly different, it does stop you going stir crazy!!!!!!!!! As for KTHY I think they are great, always fly with them our friends and family fly with them and never a problem with food , delays etc. Only problem I have seen is ignorant people who block the aisles when boarding insisting on repacking their hand luggage for example. Or even worse, disobeying instruction when refueling in Turkey which are International Air Regulations and for your safety. The staff are briliant in those instances. They give up being and nice and shout at the fools. Well done ladies, perhaps if more airlines took their stance then they may be less in flight problems.

As KTHY now do all their Safety Procedures using the onboard monitor systems, would it actually be to much trouble if they actually changed the video and put a movie on whilst on the long leg to the UK?
