For those of you who have over the years watched with interest the building of the boat in Ozankoy village. For some years many of us have watched this progress from bits of wood into a large stunning boat all built by hand by the carpenter in the yard just up past Dream Castle. The craftsmanship is second to none & it has been for some time a local landmark for many of us. Well the boat is now ready to be moved down to the harbour & this will happen Friday 23rd July . Many will be there to mark the occasion so I thought that maybe a few who would like to see it may not be aware of the fact that it is being moved tomorrow. They plan to start moving it at 8am & it will be dragged on blocks by truck to the new harbour with police escort & Kibtek ready to sort out any electric cables. Years of building being brought to a climax by the big operation of taking it to sea.

Yes, we saw the first one several years ago and it is quite an amazing sight to be seen. Thanks for posting the info as, like you, we are sure lots will be interested in seeing this event.

I'm relieved I though he knew something that we didn't

I was looking for animals turning up 2 by 2 as a warning time was up

It does look very good now its painted up

Does it also mean that the 1960's car nearby can now be renovated ? )

Wanderer

glad we are not the only one's who look at the car it's in pretty good condition considering it's so old & sat there for so long.

I am so glad that there is an interest in the boat. I have contacted the papers & TV etc so hope it will be reported how many times have we all needed a really good carpenter & not thought of this man, time a craftsman was recognised I think.

It was scheduled to be moved today but as it is such a large operation they had a few technical problems so has been put off until tomorrow.

Don't fret Mary, we all knew where you meant Poppet! It's the village near Bellapai and Catalko!

Just to keep you updated. If the boat is moved tomorrow which seems unlikely at the moment (technical issues with the towing truck) it may happen at lunchtime-not first thing in the morning.

The boat and carpentry work has all been done by Fikret Gencer as a private project, so anyone wanting excellent carpentry work done, Fikret is your man and can be contacted through myself on 0533 8642944 or marcosthechef@gmail.com

I will keep you informed of the move.

I thought the only landmark in Ozankoy was the Old Mill, now sadly closed but rumour has it shortly to be opened as a Pole Dancing Club, and no that is'nt a dancing club for Poles.

All systems go for today at about 10:30 am. Just spoke to fikret & he is waiting for a call from the police so that they can start the move. It will be dragged down the road on huge wooden blocks (skates). He said he has been making it since about 2002 . hope it all goes well for him.

hope to see lots of you there.

Sat behind the boat on the way to the hairdressers, caused quite a jam but there was a carnival type atmosphere around it. It looked absolutely beautiful. Is it being moored at the New Harbour?

OK all done the boat was taken to the new harbour & wow does she look fantastic on the water a beautiful site to see. Thank you to fikret & co what a wonderful day, it was spectacular to see & so glad that we could be there to share it.

Sad for those who missed it as the chances are it may never happen again built from scratch what a proud man he should be. We can not wait to see it on it's maiden voyage. 100% craftsmen without any doubt.
