Spent an hour today in HSBC waiting to pay some money in and this was despite having a queue jumping Premier number (upstairs was closed). When we got our number they were serving number 91 and our number was 151!!! hence getting the Premier number. By the time we left an hour later they were still only on 101 because nearly all the cashiers had gone to lunch.

Anyway, had a chat with Aylin who works there and she says that they will be opening a new branch by the end of the year but as yet they do not know where it will be. So hopefully that will ease the load a bit.

If they had ten branches I still wouldn't go back to them. Every time I went in without a problem I came out with one.

The worst service I have ever encountered.

As opposed to all your troubles, i must say my wife found HSBC spot on today. She went down to open a dollar account, within 1/2 hour this was done, they spoke to my banker in the Middle East who transfered the money using their express service and it reached the new account at 2pm.

Less than a day!!! I think HSBC offer one of the best services world wide bar none.

Never had a problem with HSBC, yes if you go wrong day and time you will have a big queue, so do not go at busy times!!!!!

I find the staff always helpful and with a bit of Turkish practice you make their day, especially when you get it wrong.

Go in with a bad attitude you get it back, something that has gone in UK cos there are no branches to go into!!!!!!!!!!.

Using Internet solves a lot of problems and so easy to use, said many times on here that using HSBC International if I have to tranasfer funds from UK the money is in account in Girne the same day or at latest in 24 hours.

Purely from a selfish point of view, hopefully the new branch, if it ever surfaces, will be Esentepe/Tatlisu side as our nearest is the Universal Bank in Catalkoy.

When you open an account with the HSBC (or any other bank for that matter) then you do get quick service. The staff located in the customer service area of HSBC can get special tickets so that they can jump the queue when dealing with new customers - makes sense doesn't it. However, it can be a very different story when you are left to your own devices and it is not unheard of to be waiting for 2 or 3 hours, probably because all the new customers are getting in before you. As CIH says you have to pick your moments, don't go in on Mondays especially 1st Monday of the month. I was amazed on 18th July (yes, it's etched on my memory) when I went in about 9am and was 2nd in the queue. I did look around for candid camera ;-)

sissy,

Do what we did, go in and tell them and they will change it.
