| Turkey and TRNC will try very hard to make peace with the Greeks; hopefully an acceptable agreement will be signed by the end of the year. If not, there will be no alternative other than try for recognition, at first we may not get 100 countries required, but at least 50 will do in very short time. In time many more will follow. |

| ben, however hard turkey and north cyprus both try to make peace with the greek cypriots, it very much depends on the minimum common conditions acceptable to both sides since 1963 it has been difficult for any impartial observer to see how either party is willing to "endure the unendurable" as emperor hirohito coloufuly put it in 1945, by trusting the other although you refer to "peace" there has been little or no armed military conflict since august 1974, so perhaps you meant "unification", I think this less likely every passing year but I could be wrong one thing is certain: there will be no rush whatsoever to officially recognise north cyprus, as there has not been for taiwan one thing is less predictable however: are the rumours true that the eu will deliver on its promise to end the blockade with direct trade, ...by the end of 2011? in such a case there would be less incentive to "try very hard" to make peace, ...especially since it exists already! |
