That's good news, I don't agree with blood sports, so lets hope it spreads throughout Spain.

Went to a bull fight in 1970, never since. It was barbaric and cruel. We walked out in disgust.

Bill - happy to say I've never been to a bullfight. Agree with you - totally barbaric.

I must say I'm surprised (and, of course, pleased) about the ban - isn't it considered part of Spain's cultural history? Although what's cultural about it is anyone's guess

Some traditions take a long while to end!

Everybody is missing the point the Catalans banned bull fighting because they HATE the Spanish and have done this to wind them up.

The Catalans couldnt care less about the bulls, they would rather stick a knife in the Spanish nation and twist it about to cause maximum pain much more fun than sticking it in a bull.

The Spanish world cup team were mostly Catalans and they are still pissed off that they were made to embrace Spanish flags much to their discomfort, they are sending their Spanish neighbours a message they will understand.

Thanks for that, karakum5c (and please forgive my ignorance).

I did realise that the Catalans saw themselves somewhat apart, but I didn't realise that they actually hated the Spanish. I know they speak in a different dialect, too.

By the way, was it you who told me about the graffiti in Barcelona when we visited a couple of years ago?

I am always interested to learn about other cultures. Thank you for that - you live and learn
