Raising Total Alkalinity on your pool Snakes

Hello Snakes.



To raise or up your TA on your pool you will need to use small amounts of Sodium bicarbonate (bicarb)



maybe half a kg for every 10000 litres.



but dont try to bring it up all at once if it does not come up right away.



maybe every 4 to 5 days or until you have got to the level you require.



TA, should usually be kept at 80 - 120 ppm, LOW TA can cause,marking or etching of the plaster, marbelite, or tile grouting.

staining of the pool's surfaces

sore or burning eyes and itchy skin.also slightly green water.

corrosion of metal parts, steps, ect.

To High TA problems can be .

PH can keep going up even though adding ph-. cloudy water. also sore eyes itchy skin.

Hello Dave, its only slightly low at about 60 ! is there a more efficient way of testing TA as i find "the strips" a little misleading at times cheers Barry

you can Buy an alkaline test kit, which contains the supplies necessary for testing total alkalinity,thats if your not a 100% sure of the test strips.



i only have the 3 in 1 strip.



maybe vaughan or siba or cyprus pools might be able to help you with just a TA test kit.Or maybe vaughan can test your water if you take him a sample,then youll know how accurate the strips are or not!

or if some 1 comming from the UK,they might be good enough to bring you 1.

or maybe in the south!
