I have booked my container with jo valentine, and was wondering where I go to get my Muhatars letter ?? We are in Alsanjak ....also can anyone give us any tips or advice ,regarding the process .cheers .

just ask any village local where the local muhatars office is. They will know for sure

We just took our rental agreement with us to prove where we were living, along with copies of passports. I think every office is different, in Çatalköy our mukhtar just asked us to give him whatever we thought! I think others charge a set fee for the letter. He prepared a letter for us and told us to go to a lady in a shop around the corner for her to sign it too.

One of the Alsancak muktars lives in the house next to The Barrel on the road left from the Golden lady - used to be Lacem and he had his office there, now moved to his own house next door, afternoons I believe.

Can anyone tell me the following. If your house contract is in joint names, would I be able to get the container and muhters letter on my own? My husband may need to stay in the UK for a couple of months longer than we had hoped.

Yes,just give me a ring when here,apart from Muhtah you will need to go to Police Station in Girne,with your passport.If you get there 0800 should be out in a couple of hours.

Do you have Jo', notes?

Muhtah and Police "ins and outs",then finally to Customs in Lefkosa.

Container then in a couple of days.
