Over in NC a lot at my parents place in Alsancak; usually go to "Ambiance" and it is always brilliant - any other recommendations for a change?

It depends on what type of food you like.

Easy pleased No1 - but for a special occasion I'm planning really not wanting Chinese, curry etc as they wont appeal to everyone. Class surroundings, just wondering if there is anywhere comparable with Ambiance

Pasta mania is ok for a take away pizza, Personally the food is nothing better than pizza express or pizza hut.

But 3X adult risotto's on your table in less than 10 min's from order?

Give them credit,,,,thats not a bad microwave they've got back there..

For the best Italian food got to be Guidos - if you want a lovely evening meal by the sea has to be the Address - if you want authentic Turkish food - more than you can eat Cenap in Alsancak village - different location but wonderful atmosphere - great location - any of the restaurants in Bellapais - best restaurant (good food and won't rip you off) in the Old Harbour - yes really there is one - try Cafe Chimera (the one situated under the Castle) - and in Lapta - Silver Rocks is great - lovely location by the sea - lovely food reasonably priced - and yes in the moonlight the rocks really look silver. I appreciate these are only my opinions - everyone's taste differs but these are the ones that I like. The problem with Northern Cyprus is far too many restaurants and too few customers and I have not had the opportunity to sample any more - but hope this helps

For me the two quality restaurants are Guidos and Effendi. Both are of exceptional quality and value

Try the Address just along from the Ambience, we prefer this one as we found the steaks were better (Tbone) and we also found if you were not a regular the service was a bit indifferent, and the regular clientel seemed to get preferential service, where as at the Address everyone is treated the same.

Just noticed this thread or you would have heard about this from me sooner.

***** Italian food the surroundings are not as quite as good as the food (no sea views etc) but hard to beat this side of Rome. What's more the chef is authenic Italian too!

Guido's the service is good and the price too.

Just in case you missed my point Guido's
