Julia, When you come over,on that day (depending how quickly you want your goods) go to your local Muhtar for residency paper, then get your ins-outs from police and take them to customs with your "ORDINO"(DONT ASK ME WHAT THAT IS) WITH THE BILL OF LOADING (they'll ask you for "bill of lading )

re msg 5; The agreement of taking your goods to your home is nothing to do with the paper work you have to prepair. Just listen to me please and your life would be much easier and it stops us having another person whinging on the forum about TRNC. Sorry but I do not make these rules and whats required from you is also required from me (TC) as well. Good luck with your move. Here is my number in case you need some advice:0533 873 9181

I don’t mind what paper work I have to do. I am seeking advise on what needs to be put on it as it is different moving from turkey to trnc than it is from uk and I don’t want to get it wrong Re your other comment I am not a whiner and would never be, with that attitude perhaps this is wrong place to seek advice

re msg 8; "Re your other comment I am not a whiner and would never be, with that attitude perhaps this is wrong place to seek advice " Sorry you've taken it like that but I did not mean any harm with my comments, however, with that attitude I think you WILL BE another whinger in TRNC.

Having been there done that letmejust say why themuhtar needs tosign the inventory. firstly because they want to make sure that the goods you are taking are your own and not stolen property. secondly they can ask you to pay tax on anything that is bought solely for use here because some stuff is more expensive. We also had a problem with the stupid muhtar because he simply refused to sign my inventory but reis removals did the whole thing for me Idon'tknowhow anddelivered straight to myhome address here. really good job too especially considering the way things are done here since we have moved...

Re : msg 9 - Muhtars are elected. Dear Julia - I don't really know what went on in the Muhtar's Office, but gecmis olsun. İn the near future, my TC fiance and I will also be moving some furniture from İstanbul to KKTC ... and according to the reports of my fiance's friends the procedure is all very straight-forward. Having to go to the Muhtar seems fair enough to me: To pass through customs the removals' firm needs a form (yes the inventory signed by the Muhtar) showing their customer's name (ie.you) ... and provided the inventory matches what the customs find in the back of the truck, then everything will be let through to your new place ... with no duty being paid. Problems would arise at the Muhtar's office if you are intending to transport more items then you and your close family could feasibly use. For example, if the Muhtar sees, say two microwave ovens, he might think you intended to sell one of them.
