Hi Jock 1 Ours was 220 ytl fro Arcelik + well worth it . During July I read in the newspapers over there about being aware of coolers with no known brand name as they could be poisonous . HP

If you mean the ones that hold the 19 litre bottles of water we paid 180 lira for one which does hot and cold water and has a small fridge at the bottom. Graham

Sorry do not know the name of the shop we only know it as "Catalogue Clearance", they sell all sorts of furniture/electrical/household goods. Directions are: From The Colony Hotel go towards Lefkosia roundabout, approx. 150 metres from Colony (on same side) shop is on the corner, (that street leads to top/bottom? tin pan alley. Hope this helps. This is it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/grazncaz/2718849789/ Graham

Are your sure its definitely a fridge at the bottom? Ours has a little fridge looking thing at the bottom with a small shelf but it doesn't cool its just mainly for storing plastic cups.

Quite sure, yes, it'is definitely a fridge, (at the back of the unit 3 switches, hot, cold & fridge). There were three options available: storage cabinet, fridge, steriliser (friends have this one as it is ideal for sterilising babies bottles). Graham

Hi Oranekazzie Yes it is a proper fridge. They did a cheaper one without the fridge. It only holds a few bottles but has a removable shelf if you want to put smaller items in.

I got one with a fridge at the bottom and hot/cold taps from the Arcelik shop by the fountain/roundabout in Girne. It was 220 ytl and is the best thing I've bought in ages. I actually spent a lot of time wandering round the electrical shops looking for one and the only place that had them with the fridge in was this particular shop. You can get them cheaper if you just want storage or a "table top" type thing but that little fridge bit is a godsend this time of year especially.

Save money buy one with out the fridge, and use the regular fridge, stores a lot more for sure.

The fridges are really just a gimmick, as above, they are so small not worth paying extra for. Check out all the small electric shops on road side, Arcelik are the most expensive. Anything more than 180 ytl is too much. I am not saying I disbelieve the comment of 95ytl but at that price north or south I would be doubtful of quality. If it does go wrong it will cost you more in petrol to go and try to get repaired cos any guarantee would be doubtful. We bought on at end of road and there was a fault, took it back and exchanged no problem. We were actually told in one large shop in Girne when asking about a guarantee that anything that is cheap here, is cheap and that means no guarantee!!!!! Honesty pays dividends.

CIH. I would not agree that they are a gimmick. I can get enough bottles of Newcastle Brown in there to keep me happy. Well, for a few days at least! LOL Serously, I think they are useful when you have a party as you can get a few more bottles cooling when the fridge is full. Firestarter mentioned a cost of 95 but it was Euro not YTL.

Buy the one with the fridge as they do not work as well as a normal fridge but make great wine cooler for red wine. Col

You cant get about 12 33cl bottles in the bottom fridge of our water cooler so I stand by my comment that it is a godsend this time of year, especially if you are having a BBQ or something like that. Personally I think the extra 40 ytl outlay is worth it.
