I would like to know what the current interest rate for Sterling is a the HSBC bank please. Many thanks

Ask them! Julie Younger is the manager, English, and very helpful. You would do much better if you change your sterling into lira - I am currently getting 7% - less than some other banks , but then, there is no way that HSBC will evver fail....and no, before somebody else joins in, IT IS NOT A FRANCHISE!!

I was told by hsbc in England that hsbc in turkey is nothing to do with them and they get away with offering lower rates because people think its english

HSBC here IN TRNC is a franchaise and not linked to HSBC anywhere other than Turkey, in short it is no different to any other bank here.

Message 5. HSBC in northern Cyprus IS part of the group. My account paperwork was done in the UK at HSBC and as a Premier customer i am entitled to a premier manager in TRNC with all the same benefits.



Re message 6: My paperwork was only done this year and i have also been sent HSBC credit and debit cards for my accounts. I'm not even there yet!

HSBC Holdings plc is a UK registered public limited company that is British. This is the company that all other HSBC companies are subsidiaries of.

HSBC Bank AS (Turkey), of which Kyrenia branch is a member, is a Turkish registered company and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of HSBC Bank plc which is the retail arm of HSBC Holdings plc in the UK (you know the one that has all the branches in the UK).

The HSBC Group is massive and has companies and branches all over the world. Each company or branch is registered in it's country of origin and is regulated within the laws of that country.

HSBC IN KYRENIA IS NOT A FRANCHISE AND NEVER HAS BEEN.

You can find all this out by looking at the structure charts on the HSBC.com website.

Julie at HSBC in Girne opened a HSBC account for me in England from here.. I now have 2 identical bank cards .. 1 for my turkish accounts & 1 for the English account .. No tie up .. You must be joking ..
