| ANKARA, Turkey (AP) - Authorities says a gas canister
explosion has caused a three-story student dormitory to
collapse in central Turkey. At least five students have
been killed.
Local emergency services say 14 students staying at the
dormitory were brought out of the debris with injuries
early Friday.
Local mayor Mehmet Demirgul says there were about 40-45
students staying at the dormitory in central Konya

11 killed in Turkey school dorm collapse

A girls' school dormitory has collapsed in southern Turkey, killing 10 students and injuring 23, broadcaster CNN Turk reported.
It said at least 20 students were believed to be under the rubble of the building in the province of Konya, which collapsed due to a gas explosion.
The dormitory was being used by students taking part in a course on the Koran.
At the scene, men wielding pick axes and hammers dug at the rubble.
Television footage also showed injured girls being carried from a minibus into a hospital in a nearby town.
