Elko2

Can you advise. I purchased a 200w invertor from a resident here in cyprus and it was new in its packet shipped from Japan to his UK address. I use it for my 50w fan during the night powered from my 180amper battery. It worked for a week but now it keeps turning itself off and making a constant high pitched noise. Any idea what might be wrong with it and where I can take it in Girne for testing.

Thanks

Sorry, did not notice it before. First test the voltage of the battery, is it 12 volts ?

If the voltage is fine, it means that your inverter has developed a fault. In that case my advice to you is to get a new one. I can supply you one for the same power for 100 TL, see http://www.elkocyprus.com/e-inverter.html

Nope, you can order one through Tektan or you leave 100 TL at Smart Plus Furniture and ı send you one to Girne by Dolmus.

Sounds like a flat battery. If your battery only shows 12v it is flat. Recharge it. A full battery shows about 12.75 volts.

If your battery is very flat it is very difficult to start off the recharge with a small charger. Take it to an auto electricion with a big charger.

Left my invertor with Tektan for repair, didnt get any explanation of why they couldnt repair, just the words impossible. Then took it to a new Electronic shop in Karakum next to wrought iron shop, who rang to say there is nothing wrong with it! interesting.
