| Hi I posted similar thread to Bob's few weeks ago & read with interest replies to him. I too have had some replies - but still some questions around intending to rent for 6mo (feelin the water): - About how much money (minimum) would we need to bring with us to open an account there? We can have money transfered later as needed (my pension agency will pay my pension direct - but need the bank account number to do so). I understand now (more or less) about residency visa & Kocan - but is all this needed if not yet applying for residency (or do we do it as if we were). If renting & not too bothered about buying imported produce about how much would we need to live on per month if we say went out for a meal 1pw & not driving a car About bed-linen - saw thread saying dearer/same as in UK - but if only out for 6mo is it worth bringing over & paying excess baggage or buy there Help/advice would be useful Thanks Anne |

| Ann perhaps this may help..We came over booked for 2 weeks into The Almonds Holiday Village..there are lots of other cheaper places to stay..we brought over about 8grand to start with, then transferred money over..You do not nee much to open a bank..and you do not need to have your pensions paid direct over here.you can use the cash till just like at home.although you might like to up your daily withdrawal..After 3 months you need to go for residence if you go home for a short while then come back you will be ok because you have it. If over 60 you can get a 2yr one. I would bring a Quilt set, much cheaper back home..If you come in the winter an electric blanket is a must..we pay £300 rent.electric is very high here in the summer months.also in the winter if you need to use it for heat..Your shopping should be a little lower than at home..a car is very expensive, but the little buses are always about..Please feel free to email any time..mariavic@live.com..good luck.
