is it time for "tough talking" politicians ,to get tough and slash all benefits for those that clearly can work ?

is it a system that breeds lazy b,starts?

He's never worked for 20 years I would have thought a cabbie could get a job anywhere!

He never will work now as he could never earn what they are getting in benefits. The whole system is wrong and I for one can't see it changing in the near future.

Sadly a sign of the times, with the policy of redistribution of wealth the previous government must have been aware this was going to happen. The benefit system is in my opinion responsible for much of illegal immigration.Should Turkey be admitted to the EU,how many of population millions will be looking north to the UK benefit bonanza.

I'm not sure whether this thread is about benefit fraud (report it here https://secure.dwp.gov.uk/benefitfraud) overgenerous payments when unemployed (you must be joking) or the fact that people can avoid working over a long period of time. The last group should be targeted in a way that unemployed looking for work are not penalised. Slashing benefits would not be fair to the unskilled unemployed who want a job during a recession and can't get one or if in doing so their income would fall below the minimum needed to live on. An example of this is someone living away from a town where low paid work is available on minimum wages and whose travel expenses would reduce their income to less than they received on benefits. Perhaps in their case they should be given free transport the same as pensioners get, but during rush hour.

Don't blame the people its the system that for some reason ( only known to the loony left) rewards the no hopers in life. This has gradualy turned a once great nation into a spongers paradise, bringing masses of scum from all over the world to the communal cess pit Britain now is. Greatly assisted in its downturn by Blair and Brown and all the tossers that suported them.It will take a generation to get the country back on its feet and weed out the parasites feeding off the people that are doing their bit, we could do with a mass cull, gas the sods and turn their remains into fodder and give a free pack to every benefit claiment.

Dixie, Germany tried your idea but somehow it backfired. Mind you none of those they tried it on were claiming benefits they just did it because they were racist. Hey, I should worry

showed that systemic 'racism' still existed in all areas of public

services.

Questions were raised in the House of Commons, the popular media picked

up the story and within hours it was national and international news.

Boris Johnson - Mayor of London, when questioned stated calmly that it

would be unwise to jump to conclusions until the Police and Fire Service

had completed their report. He closed by stating that he expected their

initial assessment would be available within the next 36 hours - so

perhaps it would be best to let the experts gather the evidence and

report back before he commented any further.

The baying press pack reported the interview in such way as to intimate

that the Mayor was indifferent to suffering and was out of touch with

the feelings of the whole East London community.

A large motorcade of representatives from all five groups, together with

Jacquie Smith, the Home Secretary, drove to the area and

demanded a meeting with the local chief fire officer. They made sure that a large

pack of popular press and TV had been briefed on the visit and so the

motorcade was met by a huge gaggle of journalists, TV interviewers and

cameras.

On camera, they loudly demanded to know why the Africans, Muslims and

Albanians all died in the fire and only the white couple lived.

The chief fire officer quietly replied: "They were out at work."

Stubbs, just shows how rare these stories really are if you have to make them up. BTW the British couple didn't die because they were both at work.

I must admit, despite my compassion for the less well off and needy, this does take the mick out of our system. They are milking the system "legally" like many others seem to do.

In Germany, the country which had the best support systems in place, has now stopped much of the "milking" and if you don't find work after 18 months you slowly lose most of the benefits available.

Maybe the UK should look at a similar system.

I am though all for supporting the elderly, disabled, sick and infirm but there needs to be a limit to it all. Widows and children of our seriously injured or dead soldiers don't even get this sort of support!

Funny how the media all love to have a go at those who claim benefits... those who don't pay their taxes deny the Exchequer ten times (yes really, ten times) as much revenue. Easy to target those at the bottom end of the scale but it seems always a sneaking admiration for those who fiddle the system at the top end....

For each 10 Social Security Benefits Fraud officers one tax collector could recoup 50 times as much money too... guess which one the Tories will want employ more of?

I only throw this into the melting pot for discussion as it's relevant and puts benefit junkies and tax fraud into perspective.

Msg 18: But these people are not at the bottom end of the scale. It's hard workers on minimum wage paying taxes who are now at the bottom of the scale..........Yet they are still s*it on!

My argument is not that benefit cheats should be encouraged but that the government could get an awful lot more money by chasing those tax evaders... but it's not politic to do so as a lot of their cronies fall into that category.

I passed 65 last week. I now learn my pittance of a pension will be paid one month in arrears.

I have already had a letter from The Revenue demanding I fill in a return, so it can be taxed .

That is after 50 years of work, and never a penny from the DHSS.

If anyone sees me begging in Girne, I am the bald diabetic, spare a thought.

Wynn...things cannot be to bad, seing as you have a glass of vino in your hand, taking a leaf out of the old Coachies book.??? If you had not got all thaT LOOT STASHED AWAY YOU OLD SOD YOU WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TAX ON YOUR LITTLE PENSION. What you and your beloved get will keep you nicely in north Cyprus in effes and a glass or to for the good lady Wynn.Keep paying your taxes like the good pensioner you are because the less well off have got to be housed in luxury.I am a Socialist but that family are taking the urine and if I had my own way it would stop tomorrow.Their lots of people on here who criticised Gordon Brown for this sort of thing ,but I do not see any action from Batman and Robin on this sort of exploitation of the Benefit System.I think you will find that the EU "immigrants" have a right to state aid because we are part ot he EU.A Brussels directive. Its the none EU "immigrants " they should be clamping down on,but that is not good politics if you are in Government.

Coachie, IN SEARCH OF Weapons Of Mass Destruction.

I am thinking of doing local tours up here in Sedgefield. Wondered what you think?

I Tour of Trimdon Glass of Chianti in The Trimdon Labour Club.

2 Tour of Tony Blairs old house. Still got it.

3 Lunch at The Dun Cow (where TB took Bush) for a Presidential Lunch( Fish Chips and Mushy Peas) not a sun dried tomato in

sight.

4 I thought I would then give an After Dinner Speech at £500,000 (eke the old pension out) Then I could just go on and save The World.

What was that about The Working Class?

Wynn..I would have thought that a man of your calibre could come up with something better than that. Its old history time to move on. You must be desperate for a bob or two if you have to resort to a programme of that sort. Now if you were doing some thing on Batman and Robin aka Cameron and Osborne you might just get my attention. I see one of his ideas is to virtually get rid of the RAF under their latest scheme, 8,000 men ,200aircraft for starters. I know we have to have some cuts Wynn, but to get rid of your defence force is ludicrous.Get rid of these highly overpaid civil servants would be far more sensible but that goes against the grain for the Tories..have to look after your own old boy, what!!!! Next..........

Coachie,

OK if your party, all the debt and WMD are an embarrassment to you, lets airbrush them away, under the carpet.

Err....How are we going to pay off all the debt (dont forget PFI off balance sheet financing) They cant cancel that!

You assume I approve of everything Batman and Robin do! Let me tell you NOT AT ALL.

Perhaps we should get The Architect of all that debt back, to tell us how to get rid of it! Ooops Hes done a runner, just like

the rest of That Motley Crew. I KNOW LETS BORROW MORE! and tax the hard working Pensioners.

I bet you wont let anyone get their straw in your glass!! I,m off down Girne Harbour with my begging bowl!
