Twenty three thousand people petitioned against J-Lo’s performance by joining a facebook page titled “AGAINST JENNIFER LOPEZ PERFORMING IN OCCUPIED CYPRUS”

This time around, Rihanna fans in the occupied areas have attempted to pre-empt the inevitable backlash by starting a page entitled “BRING RIHANNA TO CYPRUS!!!” By yesterday evening the page had 228 fans.

However, they are unlikely to stay ahead of the anti-Rihanna camp for long; in just four hours the counter group “Against Rihanna Performing in Occupied Cyprus” had reached 202 members. The creator of this group wrote on the page yesterday “With Rihanna being a big celebrity it sends out the wrong message to people. Let's show our opposition to the planned performance, get all your friends to join.”

With the stop J-Lo campaign setting a precedent, it is likely that the stop Rihanna campaign will gather numbers even more quickly
