| this is not a reference to the crudely rehashed proposal on varisha: plans to hand over territory to greek cyprus died a death with their rejection of annan 2004 firstly if the eu honours this promise, turkey will be oblidged to deliver on its promise to open its own ports to republic of cyprus shipping secondly south cyprus tourism will gain as a side-effect of a minor boom in the north through the use of larnaca and hotels used by visitors ultimately bound for the trnc etc, we may wait a long while to see any "two-centre" breaks advertised though! thirdly increased competition from the north will encourage the south to clean up its act on mortgaged property sales and generally sharpen its value for money finally the day-to-day trading and 'planes flying in and out of the north will instill a far more rational attitude in the minds of gc dreamers and recognition of the trnc? 'fraid not but slow acceptance by the international community, well I think so andre |
