Hi there!

Could anyone suggest any cheap BUT SAFE accomodation for a tourist in North Cyprus.

I'm not incredibly fussy about the standard of the accommodation. So long as it's clean and there isn't a pest control problem, I'll be fine.

Most importantly it needs to be safe, so I can feel safe leaving my belongings there whilst I'm out for the most part of the day.

I won't be spending much time in the hostel/hotel. I'm hoping most of the time I will be out exploring.

Thank you for your replies.

Best wishes.

Nic

I'm looking at below £150 for 7 days...is that even possible?

Also somewhere close to the coast in Kyrenia/Girne would be great.

Mostly I'm looking for somewhere cheap.

Any ideas my friend?

@zerochlor. Thank you very much for that link. That place looks good. Did you stay there yourself? Do you know whether it is safe?

Thanks again.

NICOLAS

no ive never stayed there,if you walk along the harbour front, youll see sett fish restaurant, its above that, maybe a little noisy as andrew says, but i imagine a nice central pad to do what ever it is your thinking.

Give it a try, nothing much to lose.

if your thinking of around 150 pounds for sevent days, also try the courtyard and the ermm, ive forgot the name, but the owner of the courtyard is same owner as the 1 ive forgot, they charge around 120 pound a week for accomadation

Thank you andrew, zerochlor & cyprusjoker.

I quickly googled The Courtyard Inn. It's look pretty pleasant and they say accommodation can be as cheap as £100 for the week.

So would you guys recommend this one over the Cyprus dorms which zerochlor originally suggested?

Do you guys live in North Cyprus? This is great to get advice from you guys.

Thank you so much

Courtyard is fine and well appointed for budget accommodation, swimming pool, bar/restaurant and easy access to the main drag into Girne for public transport, which is cheap & safe. No idea of their rack rate but phone them and ask!

Thanks Richard, that's great to hear.

Does anyone know what the price of food is like in Kyrenia? For example how much would an average dinner cost at a restaurant beside the harbour?

Anywhere between £15 and £30 depending what you have and where you eat.

I guess you wish to save money on food - if so go down around cengizhanli cd the back roads one or two that do Turkish fayre - meze and main courses - pretty reasonable too. Usually call for a bite when visiting from the Karpas.

Hi,

Not sure exactly when you want to go, but I checked on LateRooms.com, and Bare Hill Holiday Village is showing at only £16 per night, that would come to £112 for the 7 nights which is below your £150 budget. The reviews are good, and it's more or less on the main road for the public transport.

With the £38 you save from your £150 budget, I'd recommend hiring a car for a day or two if you can (sometimes they say minimum 3 days rental), and go explore Karpaz, Famagusta, etc.

Most small holiday villages such as the Bare Hill also have a few hire cars. Maybe you can email / call them and negotiate a package deal with a car for a few days?

I just searched for Kyrenia on Laterooms .com, then expanded the search to a larger radius to get all the options.

Hope this helps,

M

ps. If you want to call any hotels/holiday villages like the Bare Hill and speak to them, (most/all speak English), then from the UK you can dial: 0844 861 5959 first, and the call will cost you only 1p per minute. There are a few other options see: http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/turkey

Hi Nic

The Almond Holiday Village is the best....

Have a look at their website, Ali and family are the nicest people you would wish to find... anywhere, speak excellent English, and keep the place spotless.

Have a good holiday!

Blackbird I agree with you re Almond but maybe just outside his budget, Nicolas is it a double or single as you may pay a supplement. Parklane Bungalows were doing fantastic deal and its lovely, spotlessly clean. In Alsancak so you can get bus or walk to a few restaurants, where ever you hang you hat enjoy the beauty of this little place x

@Blackbird, thank you for the suggestion. Almond looks great, but as Lilli guessed it's a bit out of my budget.

@Lilli, I don't quite understand what is meant with regards to paying a supplement in terms of where I have a single or double?

I will be travelling alone. A double bed would be great (it's always nice to stretch out), but a single will do me I think.

Thanks Lilli, I'll check out Parklane. =)

Nicolas I realised as I typesd it its by no means a hostel, far from it.I just think as you are alone hotels may charge you a single supplement, one not two in the room. Stupid i know in this day and age you would think they could have a few single rooms. ParkLane advertise on here so they will show thier website x good luck xx

Nicolas,

There are some cheap and cheerful dorm rooms right in the heart of Kyrenia harbour.

I don't know anyone who's stayed there, but location wise it's right in the heart of things.

Try this link,

Just to update those who I spoke to before.

I was ready to book at the Courtyard Inn, it was very cheap and appeared to be pretty pleasant. I was under the impression it was £80 pp as they advertised. Now they tell me its £125 with an extra added supplement...
