If they have only just announced it, doubt it will take immediate effect, probably a month or so.

See http://www.cyprusweekly.com.cy/main/92,1,283,0,11378-.aspx NICOSIA – Irish low-cost airline Ryanair has agreed to include Larnaca in its destinations. Hermes Airports Spokesman Adamos Aspris confirmed the decision, describing it as a “very important development.” He said Ryanair’s presence on the island woud “further enrich Cyprus’ air connectivity with Europe and would be a catalyst in efforts to increase the influx of tourism to the island”. Ryanair is scheduled to hold a press conference on Wednesday, August 18 in Nicosia, to announce the decision to start flights to and from Cyprus. Hermes Airports, the Cyprus Tourism Organisation and the government have been coordinating efforts to bring the Irish airline to Cyprus. Ryanair is the third largest airline in Europe in terms of passenger numbers and the largest in the world in terms of international passenger numbers.

Please remember it is not always cheap to fly with Ryanair particularly by the time you have taken into account all their additional costs. So do not get to excited.

And don't forget they want to bring in a charge of £1 to use the toilet! £40 to put a suitcase in the hold during July/August!

the charge to go to the toilet was to try to get people to go before they set off, then again when they land, (if need be) they can then remove some of their toilets and fit in 8 more seats.

Saw an interview with the Irish guy who runs Ryanair, he is very keen to introduce the £1 toilet charge but I think he might run into health and safety issues!

No problems using them myself. Would prefer for them to allocate seats though. Monarch have been offering some good fares but of course by the time all the airport charges etc they still ended up at £145 plus £14 each way for a bag.

I hope he is just using the toilet charge as a way to create more advertising, and he is not serious, what about the people who owing to medical conditions have to use the toilet more often and after all the flight here is about 4 and a half hours or more. I know the Brits are known for toilet humour, but to have to spend a pound for a P is slashing on people from a great height.

In the event of a loss in cabin pressure and the oxygen face masks drop down, I wonder how they will work out a way to charge you to use them? Coin operated perhaps?

I think if you are serving drinks and food you have to provide toilet facilities, so i think they would be hard pushed to charge....but who knows!!!

Hector I liked that it made me laugh. Mr O Leary is a wind up merchant and does all he can for adverse publicity. It can only be a good thing to bring more people here espicially as you may be able to fly for a pound, plus the add ons. We used to use them often when the pound deals were on to fly to italy as they actually flew to Trieste where Guido is from, not many airlines went there. I think the most we paid was 44.99 each, we wait and see xx

Have flown with Ryanair many times, to London, Dublin, Frankfurt Hahn, etc. and they can be very cheap if you are careful to take hand luggage only within weight limits. Fine for us outwith the South as we often need cheap connecting flights. They have a good record on punctuality. Lovely if they could give us flights from say, Glasgow, Dublin, Belfast etc. Why not?

This can only be good news for people who regularly return to the UK. There are some very good deals flying from the South at the moment if you can book in advance. We are going back to the UK in January with Easyjet and have only paid 275 euros for two adults return, including 20kg of baggage each and speedy boarding. Easyjet versus Ryanair should hopefully spark a price war Paul

Hi Everyone good morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they will fly in and out of Stansted. There is a lot of old rubbish spouted about Ryan air, in my experience of them (over 200 flights) they are extremly efficient about delivering passengers cheaply from Ato B on time. Of course you need to understand their pricing system but nothing is added to the bill that is not contained in their trading terms. This initiative will really help to deliver more tourists. A word of advice if you want a cheap flights, travel light and get organised so you can book on line regards Doug

Don't mind being treated like cattle if the fare is £5 but when they charge £150 and still treat you so badly then no thanks. Also I couldn't manage 4 hours + having to look at those vivid yellow seat backs. Could always take the eyeshades given by proper airlines!

Hi Breezeboy I would suggest if Ryan Air were to charge £150 return they won't be missing your buisness as their planes will be full. Doug

Doug Thet have changed their policy since last year re: bookings and all bookings now have to be done on-line and you must check-in on line and print out the boarding cards to hand to the gate staff. If you don't print your boarding pass, they will charge you £40 each to print it for you !!! Follow the rules and it usually works out cheap though !!! Susie

It's on their website now ..... http://www.ryanair.com/en/cheap-brussels-charleroi-belgium-larnaca-cyprus-flights Flights start on 03/11/10 and are priced from €34.99 Any flight is really just a bus in the sky, so if you can do without a reclining seat and a soggy sandwich Ryanair are as good as any other airline. You could argue that they're better as none of their planes are more than around 4 years old! If you play their game, travel when they offer cheap fares, only take hand luggage and have your own insurance they are spectacularly cheap. Back in May I flew from Edinburgh to Charleroi, Charleroi to Brindisi in southern Italy for a week and then back. Each of the 4 legs cost a £3! That's a fully inclusive total of £12. You just can't beat that. I'd happily have stood AND paid a quid to use the toilet if asked!

Hi Doug That was for a late booking from Liverpol to Dublin- the wheels dont have time to stop spinning! Since they fell out with Manchester for not crawling low enough they might do Liverpool to Larnaca. One thing you have to say for them they are always on time. Just a pity they have to sound a bugle fanfare to announce it every time they land. One way this is acheived is by closing the gate 20 mins before their slot, no exceptions. So if you use them get the wife out of duty free a bit earlier

Actuall I think they only achieve the 'on -time' situation because they have built a cushion of extra time into their flight schedules to allow for any delays. On many of the flights I have taken, they have taken off up to half an hour late, and still manage to land on time to great fanfare!!! Simple really, isn't it? Have to say though I wasn't impressed with the forewaord in their latest in-flight brochure where Mr O'Leary knocks EasyJet for not publishing his 'on-time' figures -accusing him of hiding his bad performance. Poor show, Ryan Air, you cheaters !!!!
