I was just checking flights for next year, to come out in May, looked on Monarch site and got all excited when I saw flights for £30.99 pushed the proceed button only to faced with a total for two people £384.22, then if you want to eat that is extra. Went onto BA Flight site found flights for £113 each again hit proceed button found what they really wanted was £450.00. Why can they not just be honest and tell you how much the flights are going to be in the beginning. Monarch want to charge for travel insurance despite me getting a yearly one, and they wont back down on that. So still looking probably going to be Easy Jet or Pegasus (when they bring out their prices for next year) Peter

Peter. On the Monarch website I thought you could delete the insurance if you didn't want it.

The problem is that the British government want more than there fair share of your money. We normally fly monarch but eat a meal in the airport before we fly.We have used Ba , Cyprus airways and eurocypria but monarch usually beets them on price.

Think you were probably looking at the sector fare! £113 LHR/LCA . £113 LCA/LHR for example. They are shown in sectors as it might be higher for return - busier day or vv. Kath

Peter Msg7 that still comes out to £450 for both of us. Thanks Bill and Alan figured out how to delete insurance Msg 3 & 5. The main reason for getting a bit wound up about the fares is because we are only paying £342.00 for both of us to come out in September with Pegasus, also paid about that or less to come out with Easy Jet in June this year. Easy Jet fares do not show that far in advance for next year. Have emailed Tom at flight Holidays see if he can help, Hello anybody there? no reply as yet, probably propping bar up at Guidos. Peter

You do not have to take the insurance as already stated. Booked Monarch a couple of months ago for September and got flights for £140 plus bags, approx £12 each way so even with a bag each still only £165ish. Allowing £45 each way for taxi took it to just over the £200 mark which was the cheapest by some £60

Msg 9 am I to assume that is £200 or just over for 2 people or each, if it is the latter then that is similar to what I was quoted on the web site. As I said the price started at £30.99 each per single journey, then same price return, once I pressed the proceed button along came the Airport Taxes, Fuel Supplement, luggage supplement, you name it it thrown on. I finally got it nailed down to £344.00 which doesnt seem too bad, but will still keep trying.

Cyprus Airways were very unhelpful when my friend was stranded by the ash cloud. She has vowed never to use them again, regardless of their cheaper prices.
