Geoffrey Bacon died after being violently robbed in his home in Camberwell, London, on April 26.

The widower suffered a broken hip as his attacker ransacked his Peabody Estate home and escaped with just £40 and his bus pass.

Police said Mr Bacon, who served as a driver for General Eisenhower during WWII, spent 11 weeks in hospital recovering before passing away in a care home on August 5.
