its strangely quiet this island,

as i walk through towns of ghosts,

no more karaoke

, no more sunday roasts

boarded up hotels and car parks overgrown,

north cyprus in decline, lost and all alone.

the estste agents long since gone and market shops are bare,

while rent a cars huddle in garages,cos no ones going there,

and while the goverment rapes this once lovely land,

oblivious to the pleads of the many,

the greek cypriot smiles and rubs his hands,

make way for the trojan penny

Onlyme....your vision is of 2020...in ten years time.



But 10 years is a long time....it may happen much sooner if the TRNC govt are not taken to task.



But just a minute , many people are saying it will all be sorted by the end of this year........or was that last year...or the year befor that ....?

just a quick counter balance,not a poet





i found a nice green olive tree,

l got myself a nice thick rope

i asked my god for forgiveness

for being such a dope



l'd bought myself a villa

three bedrooms and a pool

for years and years my children came

sunbathing,playing and keeping cool



you see,i love cyprus,

especially the north.

this crime free paradise

screams at me,go forth



l make a rope swing

on that old olive tree

for all my grandkids,

who are saying grandad,grandad look at me.



my kids will use the villa,

when i not around

so long live trnc

my love and joy for you,holds no bounds.

Clear blue Cyprus skies and a calm azure sea

The view from every window that welcomes me

Happy friendly people eager to please

Orchards of orange and olive trees



Living on the mountain I have a panoramic view

The sun comes up each morning, fresh and new

The beautiful sunrise of yellow and gold

Anticipation of another day, waiting to unfold



Sometimes the earth is quenched with falling rain

It pitter patters on the floor, a welcome sweet refrain

The constant rays of sunlight through droplets in the skies

A glorious arc of colour, such beauty to my eyes



The distinctive scent of olive trees, in summer fills the air

The clicking sound of insects, Cicadas everywhere

The bright sun casts a shadow to give a welcome shade

Still balmy in the evening as the sunlight starts to fade



At night the stars shine brightly, an astrologers dream

You can reach up and touch them every one, or so it would seem

As the day comes to a close the sky turns fiery red
