There is an art gallery in Lapta village which could be a good starting point for you.

Lambousa market at Lapta. There are several types of craftwork on sale, including pictures. The market is every Saturday between 10am and 1pm

There's a gallery in Karmi. A very nice lady runs it. I'm not sure if some of it is her work. It's worth a drive up there and have a walk round.

As Moxie says, the round tower in Kyrenia is a good place to start and there is also an art gallery on the way out of town (past the law courts towards Pia Bella) that displays local work.

Elliecy. Did you see the painted wall at the side of the art gallery on the one you mentioned on the way to the Pia Bella, if I can remember as far back as January I think it is just before the Girne Hospital.

Carpenters Market on Friday in Karaoğlanoğlu is definitely worth a visit. An exceptional artist exhibits there every week.

Portrait prices start at 80 tl for charcoal/chalk and offers are considered on all paintings.

If you want local scenes go to the framing shop just past Jinomer clinic (near the law courts). Husband and wife team... both trained artists and their work is fantastic and their prices are sensible too.

Thank you Artistabroad but as you hint, the web site for Feryal is out of date as are the web sites for the other artists and contacts on the Buyukhan Art web site. My messages have all pinged back. There is some excellent work on Buyukhan Art although I fear that much may be beyond our price range. I get the impression that the asking price for some of the works was $1,500/$2,000.

Do you know of any art exhibitions being held between 27/10/2010 and 14/11/2010?



One thing is certain, from the contacts provided it is clear that there is a great deal of good work available.

The Alkan Restaurant / Hotel in Bacheli had a small collection of crafts, paintings, drift wood, hand knitted garments. The smaller paintings started at about £10.00. These were 5ins by 10ins size water colour.
