What is the normal guarantee period for the structure of a swimming pool (not the pump or filter) I believe there is a leak in ours and not just evaporation. Thanks.

It depends on who built your pool.

Our structural guarantee is for 5 years, but a guarantee is only as good as the company that issues it.

Out here most guarantees "aren't worth the paper they're written on".

Do you know how to calculate your evaporation rate? Better still, tell me how big your pool is and how much water you are using. I will tell you how much is evaporation and how much is due to leakage.

Vaughan,can you help.I am in the UK at the moment and my neighbours tell me that half my pool has gone and the pump room flooded in the pump room above electrics.Can Octopus give a free estimate...

Our estimates are always free.....

I have sent an engineer around to your pool and I will get back to you asap. I suspect your check valve has jammed open with debris and caused the flooding.

Found your pool and we are pumping out the motor room to determine what happened. Your pump will at least need repairing and your electrics should be replaced. There is more water missing from the pool than there is in the pumproom, which is a puzzle....

Ok, not having had a picture yet of the pool, is there anything he can put in the water to stop it going green, on the assumption it has not gone green already.Plus when do you think repair would be done,or should I e.mail you directly?
