By the way, it might help if you mention your available budget, so that people can tell whether you want a small 'Brand New' car or a small 20 Year old car - Don't laugh - there's plenty of THEM on the roads here!

Why a 4x4?



Unless you live up an unmade road that turns into a quagmire in the rain, I'd stick to a small FWD car that will attract lower taxes, insurance, repair/maintenance costs and fuel consumption.



I'd pick diesel for the extra torque and cheaper fuel.

Vegman, one thing to bear in mind is the duty paid here on cars, consequently pushing up the price no end.



It maybe worth increasing the budget just to ensure you pick up a good car.
