Would I be right in saying that (or am I completely off the mark) moving to the TRNC is similar to moving to the USA?...in terms of the dreams people have in their head

W.r.t. to USA, you hear about this "American Dream". People move there expecting life to absolutely transform for the better, but in actuality, it's no better than home.

Is this true at all about North Cyprus?

North Cyprus cannot be compared to America full stop.

, I think you need to go and have a look for yourself, it has been a surpressed country for many years, it does it best and has charm all of it own, but cannot be compared to America wrong track I would say

Nicholas what with all the questions invest in a holiday fact finding mission and go have a look for yourself ! then make your own mind up

Nicolas....you are obviously asking a lot of questions...which is what this forum is about.

Where do you usually holiday or visit, when not living in London?

By knowing what you are used to we may be able to give you better comparisons.

@cronos, in the past I've visited Florida, Faro, Valencia, Rome, Vancouver, a few islands in Greece...and that's about it really.

Hi Nicholas,

I visited Vancouver and Vancouver Island in April of this year and although it is very beautiful and I would love to go back, I have also visited all the other places you mention but you cannot compare compare them with Northern Cyprus. I suggest you visit the north and see for yourself.

Attention Investors:

Very rarely do we get the opportunity to offer fully managed condos with tenant in place for little under 50K.

Below, we have secured 32 units that will sell out before the month is over. These are all fully refurbished, tenants in place and we can set you up with a bank account in the USA if needs be.

A few points to highlight are:

1. Up to 70% discount from peak pricing

2. Tenants already in place on yearly contractual leases paying 650 to 900 USD a week

3. Managed for you by a well known management group

4. HUGE potential for long term capital growth once the market stabilises which will see the return of mortgage facilities.

These won’t last long and I’m certain you won’t find a better deal so please get back to me if your want to secure here, otherwise please update us with your criteria.

The two main problems are health care and visa problems.

It is hard to get cover for health care unless you have been paying into a scheme for a long time. Even going to the Doctor can run up a very hefty account and so that has to be the first thing to look into. If you are using the place as a holiday home then not too bad as long as you do not stay over 30 days in one time and have holiday health cover that includes the USA.

Work permits (green cards) are hard to obtain and are only for about three years or so and then have to be renewed. Pensioners have to go out of the Country after about a six month stay and getting a residents visa is not easy and very expensive.

So if you can overcome those two hurdles it may be worth looking at. A car is essential also but they are reasonable.

The main problem is with buying. You might end up paying in full for a property but never owning it!

You cannot compare the TRNC with the USA, its like everything, make the best of it, yes their are problems in the TRNC many have already been written about, but being negative is not the answer. Good Luck to everyone.

@bobbie1306,

oh dear, I'm sorry to hear you think that way? So what are your plans now? Are you going to stay in North Cyprus any longer?

My dream would have been to move to America having lived their for 3 years many years ago, but you cannot have everything in life that you might like. Too old for America, no visa, not enough money etc etc. so had to choose a much cheaper place with no visa requirements. It was Bulgaria or here, and we chose here.
