As with most rules and regs here I am sure any information I thought I had will be out of date, so I would like the latest info for going back to Uk and purchasing a car to bring back into this country. Not too sure on what age the car has to be (if only just being purchased) import taxes etc..... any info will be greatly appreciated.

janner, duties have risen recently on the bigger CC cars, still only a car up to 3 years old can be imported if you are not the only name on the log book,if you had from new,up to 5 years old,if a pick up or some thing they class as commercial, mitsubishi twin cab pick ups i think up to 12 years old.

yorgozl, ive got his name wrong i know, but he will be along soon and offer you some advise.

I think its worth bringing a car under 2000CC and under 3 years old.

You say you are going to buy a car in the uk specifically it will cost you £800+ to bring into the country minimum

Also it needs to be under 3 years old unless you've owned it in your name(log book) for five years .

The duty is based on cc up to 1600 & 2000 and over 2000 .this is charged in $ per cc and an even higher rate on diesel in each of the bands plus at least 40% of its Glasses guide value it was 28%

If you bought new for export from the UK you could be exempt from vat in the UK making it viable go to the customs in Nicosia by the Merc dealer on the ring road and do your home work

I bought in a 6 year old 1.25litre Fiesta we had owned from new and the maths were ok as the customs man said a cheap car.But that was in June before the duty went up it cost about £1500 before road tax
