Please can anyone advise us of an update on what documents and photocopies are required for renewing temporary residency. Sorry to ask this question again but it always seems to change every year. Many thanks in advance.

Markys, What time did you get there? Did you get a form for blood tests, go and get them and then return with the receipts? Did you need a 2nd number when you came back? Hoping to do it all tomorrow and would prefer to do it all in one day.

Windycorner It came into effect last week (26th August) but only affects those under 60 years of age so you needn't worry if the age on your profile is correct.

Hi come on aylin. Yes we managed to do it all this morning but did have to get a ticket twice and queue up twice, We initially got there at about 8.30am. Glad to have got it all sorted in the same morning though.

Need some advice please. I want to apply for temp residency but hubby doesn't at the mo as he's working in Qatar and has had to get residency there. Can I get residency without him (house in joint names) and do I need marriage cert (it's back in UK in a drawer somewhere) . Worried about this new thing with only 30 day visas etc - got 90 day one now but think it will be the last! Maggie

Maggie, I would check on the BRS web page, but really can't see why you can't get your residency on our own, as husband and wife have to give a complete set of documents each. You do need your marriage certificate though. You could also go to the police station and ask their. Stella

Thanks for that Stella, I'm here till Nov on my 90 day visa so will make sure I have marriage cert with me when I come back. Meanwhile I'll go ask at Police Station for a list of what I need. Hopefully I can get it sorted - 30 days is just not long enough in Paradise! Maggie

Did our residency this morning, got there just after 7am (not 1st in queue!), tickets handed out at 7.30am and all allocated by about 7.45am. We were told to go outside and wait but quickly discovered that, unsurprisingly, this allowed for a lot of queue jumping. Got our slips for blood tests around 8.30am back at 9am and out again by 10am. We did take extra tickets for our return visit so we could do it all in 1 day. After 9am, when it was a lot quieter, a woman police officer who wasn't one of the ones processing residency applications started asking for people needing blood tests to come forward, with or without tickets. So if you now need a blood test, it may be worth going in later and taking a chance of getting seen without a ticket or if there early make it known that you only need a slip for a blood test. You will still need to show them your paperwork but they won't keep it and insist you queue up again when you return with your test receipt. Take a book and water.

You go to the police station to start or renew your residency (take all the required docs with you so they can check they are all correct) and the officer completes a slip with your passport details on it and hands it over. You take the slip to a laboratory and they perform a tuberculosis test and take a blood sample. You pay and they give you a receipt which you take back to the police station together with all the other required documentation which they process and send to Immigration in Lefkosa. Two days later you go back to the lab to show them your arm, the lab adds that result to the blood sample result and gives you a sealed envelope which you take to immigration office in Lefkosa 2-3 weeks later when you go to get the residency stamp in your passport. The tests are only required on renewal if you are under 60 years old.
