ok people on here keep saying " we are guests in trnc"

As guests we pay our taxes when due in full.

We pay our bills ON TIME IN FULL.

What (? if anything ) is it right or realistic to expect from our host country & it's government ?

JUSTICE ?

Equality ?

Human rights ( http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/policyandlaw/asylumpolicyinstructions/apis/article8echr?view=Binary )

Now before anybody goes off on a tangent about moaning whinging Brits, I like it here, I have no present plans to relocate, I embrace the culture, I have both Turkish and Turkish Cypriot friends.

I only want to be treated as a Turkish Cypriot is treated in the UK (my mother country).

So what are the similarities,

a. We both hold European passports or at least are eligible to hold one.

b.?

Now i am casting around to think of another

Now let me think of the ways we differ

a. I have to have a residency stamp costs me 180ytl a year UK he doesn't have to

b. I cant work here without a permit in UK he can

c. I have to have permission to buy a house in UK he doesn't

d. He qualifies for free medical care after a set period I never will

c. He has access to an ombudsman for any dealings that he thinks are unjust 'I just fell off my chair laughing'

d. I have to have a new driving licence in UK he doesn't

As i said before I like the place but i would like equality

Fair enough. But you've got no chance of getting it.

Just chill out and enjoy,

d. He qualifies for free medical care after a set period I never will.

But in UK you get your "Free" medical cover all the time (because you paid for it I know) but then everyone else that the UK government lets in gets free medical cover, that we paid for, as well!"

d. I have to have a new driving licence in UK he doesn't.

"you missed off the bit about he does after 12 months!" The TRNC licence is only valid for a year then he must take a full driving test before he can get a UK licence - you don't have to do that here!

Good post Hippo and you know we love it here as well with all its warts we won't return to the place we are paying for without a fight. Equality takes years but it will happen.

Nice one Hippo

You forgot to mention your friend can get a mortgage - you cannot - However a Constructer can connive with a bank to take one out on your paid for property prior to Jan 2009, or even now if you don't register your sales contract

And your recourse? - yeah right......

But I still love the place, and I am sure things Legal will improve post partition / or EU establishment
