Strangely though I have been trying to open up a message in my inbox and for the last few hours it has been saying that Hotmail is unavailable. Perhaps you would be kind enough and send me an email to see if it gets through? judyvincent@live.co.uk

Just a minute! In msg 1 judyr explained this as the problem: "I had a message from a friend in the Uk saying that emails have been sent perporting to be from his Hotmail account but they were not." Is the problem now the (temporary) unavailability of the Hotmal server?!

Hi yes I was replying to Message 3, I have been unable to access hotmail from mid morning both from my friend's office & at home - we are both using Extend ISP although rest of internet is fine.

Sorry I think I did confuse the issue a little - in the subject I put problems with Hotmail which I have had all day - I keep getting server unavailable. The other bit was about emails being sent as if they are from a friend - I opened this and wonder if that has caused my problem?

Thank you Hector but that doesn't seem to be the problem - I cannot access my live.co.uk mail account and it keeps saying that the server is unavailable.

judyr, are you using internet explorer and if so do you have an alternate, like firefox or google Chrome or Safari. If you have another you could try it or download one by doing a google search for it, I like fiefox but chrome is supposed to be good also. Once you have a new browser of your choice try logging into hotmail again. Paul

I only can advise everybody to cancel their email accounts with hotmail, yahoo, goole, gmail, live or whatever.ASAP. once you get a virus, mal or spyware or whatever, your computer is "infected" and you have a lot to do. eg complete fractionation (correct spelling?) and new installing of everything get a decent account at gmx.com ( one advertise email a day). get an "non microsoft" email programm as eg thunderbird and get your email via pop3 direct to your computer. also install avira http://www.free-av.com/en/index.html as an free and good antivirus programm. listen to msg 15 and/ or get an combined browser/ email programm as Opera and get rid of this microsoft internet explorer as well. ASAP. deinstall "office" as well and get "open office" for free..... what else do you need?

I would go with Cloud Panda anti virus but that is a matter of choice. Use VLC player instead of windows media. Or absolutely the best answer, get a MAC but that is a bit prohibitive in North Cyprus.

I've been having problems with my dad's e-mail account for a few weeks in that when I try to e-mail his live.co.uk address from my work e-mail address, I get a message saying that the address is not found on the server. I now have to log in and send everything from Yahoo as that doesn't seem to cause a problem. Very frustrating.

Hotmail will not let me send photos, the information bar keeps coming on saying that "Internet Explorer has blocked this site from using an active x control in an unsafe manner" I have no idea what this means or how to rectify it...!!
