Doris, put residency in the search box at the top of the page and you will find all the info you need. Chris

I was there this morning. I had the following. Passport plus photocopies of picture page and residency stamp. The booklet thingy with your photo Original contract and photocopy Photocopy of bank statements Muhtar letter. They didn't ask for ins and outs, but I had the loose paper in my passport showing a couple of trips to the south and a recent holiday to the UK. That was kept, but I've no idea if it's needed. If married and both applying, marriage certificate Don't forget if you're under 60 this will be a first visit to get permission for medical. There was a queue of about 20 when I arrived at 7.30. They opened the door to give out numbers. This is a free-for-all, and has no relationship to when you turned up, so make sure you hover somewhere near the door. They started seeing people at 8am, and they were ensuring it was done in the order of the numbered tickets. Make sure you know who's in front of you as they don't call out the numbers. I had number 18, and was out at 10

RE msg 3, ianwfs: (...) This is a free-for-all, and has no relationship to when you turned up, so make sure you hover somewhere near the door. (...) => A change again! A couple of months ago there was a list near the door and you could write down your name behind a number to be helped from 8am. Good system, worked fine - so obviously 'they' had to abandon it, eh?

Msg 3 Ianwfs "If married and both applying, marriage certificate" Does this mean that if only one of a married couple is applying you don't need Marriage Cert? I'm asking because my Marriage cert is back in UK & was hoping to apply for residency this trip. Without marriage cert I'll have to wait & apply in December. Maggie

Maggie, We were there 3 weeks ago and not asked for marriage certificate, actually nobody has asked for this in the 6 years we have been here. Chris p.s. If you have your kocan you don't need a copy of sales agreement (contract)

The paper "list" is at the Lefkosa office not the Police Station, no change there really apart from a new electronic system in the waiting room which calls your number. I was lucky yesterday, I am 60 (phew) on the 10th September, but the lady gave me the option of a two year residency, so no more of that nonsence next year

Message 5....I don't need a medical, as at 63, I'm considered past it and not a danger to the females of the species! However the procedure is exactly the same before and after your medical. On your first visit your paperwork is checked to ensure all is in order. You are then given permission to get your medical. On your next visit, you do it all again and your paperwork is checked again to ensure it's still in order, and you actually have the results of your medical. Msg 8....As far as marriage certificates are concerned. My wife and I are separated, and she lives in London. Both our names are on our contract, but I've never been asked for the certificate, although I'm always asked if I'm married. So I assume it's for a joint application to prove dependency. I bow to the experience of nurseawful.

Msg 11 - on the 2nd visit you take the receipt for your medical not the results. You take the results in the sealed envelope to Lefkosa when you go for the stamp in your passport. According to BRS website marriage cert is required, we took copies of ours but have never been asked for them before. So if you can take a copy do, if not keep your fingers crossed.

RE msg 6, stellastra1: (...) Hans, wasn't the list at Lefkosia, or do they have one at Girne police station as well now? (...) => Apologies, Stella, you're right. My msg 4 should be edited now, but unfortunately the old fashioned set-up of this Bulletin Board doesn't allow it.

We renewed at Girne PS 4 weeks ago & we were asked for copies of marriage certificate. I know people who have been asked & others who haven't been asked, both this year & last year. It wasn't a requirement until last year or if it was, I don't know anyone who was ever asked? You'd be very unhappy if you queued up for several hours, only to find that you needed copy marriage certs. to proceed.

Has anyone actually received their permanent residency we can theoretically start applying for it this year. Do they give you any confirmation that you have applied because obviously our temporary residency will run out in the meantime & we are flying out soon afterwards.

msg 17 It's quite possible that your Temporary Residency will run out again before a Permanent Residency is granted. In the mean time you have to renew Temp. residency.

our marriage cert was required because the police kept sending individual files to immigration instead of together including my mums who lives with us at immigration it caused the usual problems until we suggested tearing up one of the files and putting together we saw the light bulb come on and smiled problem solved!!! ps its gone up to 185 tl now and 7 for stamps
