Hi Groucho

NO-one - without the right kit.. could assemble and fit the right bits [ if they even knew what they were ] to get a perfect result - these size dishes require a GOOD spectrometer and a guy that REAALY knows how to use it....

Go to the guy who told us all that a good - well installed 1.8m would work... ICEMAN..

Speedster:

If you have a white / silver SKY+ box - try and upgrade to an HD one - the channels are stronger, the tuner is FAR better - even if you don't take HD package - In Cyprus the old SKY+ tuners are USELESS compared to the HD ones..

Anyone who gives you a price for a dish that size - without a free Sat survey ... WORRY...

Mark, What if the guy knows how to do it has the kit but just wants a cheap dish... or wants a dish and will get a contractor to fit it.

The poster didn't indicate what level of service he wanted.

I'm sure Iceman can marry up what bits of kit he has got.

Hi Groucho..

there is not much likelihood of 2nd hand 18m offsets knocking around - they are relatively new to the island

It is not the same as setting up a SKY dish in the UK, whereby a compass and a tv will find the 'bird' in the SKY..

BELIEVE me .. if we ever have someone who wants to do it themselves we don't want to know - it ALWAYS ends up with the dreaded phone call ;)

Speedster: IF your card is white then it might be useful for ITV - but not much else on a 1.8m...

Can anybody confirm that you can actually receive sky from a 1.8 m offset dish before I go to the expense of having someone install it.

That comment is a bit unfair Mark,Agip ie;Satman does have the installation kit and does a survey before giving his price. His father also travels to the u/k reguarly and keeps Agip supplied with all the latest kit.

Mark,

I notice on Iceman's site it talks about the need to re-configure the transponder after a power cut. Presumably a UPS could reduce the number of occasions this procedure would need to be carried out?

mmmmmmm, iceman doesn't reply to emails either. I have emailed him numerous times over the last couple of years and never got a single reply. I went down to see him and he was plain rude to me.

Groucho,I think that only happened with the 1.5m dish and you had to retune it to 12207 after a power cut,the new 1.8m ones pick up the default frequency so you dont have to retune it.

We have a 1.8 dish and have just upgraded from our Sky+ Box to Sky HD box which means we are now receiving lots more channels especially Channel 4HD and Channel 5HD. Can someone please explain how we could pick up ITV HD as mentioned above.

Cheers

I always reply to the mails i receive..even to those that inquire systems i do not provide.

Such as Digituk/Dsmart/ Nilesat or even dreambox systems etc.

I never turn down people when they contact me for information regarding TV systems.

How was i rude to you? what did i do or say?

iceman, you just seemed uninterested and very short with me because I disrupted you doing something on your computer. Maybe it was me, I was a bit hot and bothered having wandered around for ages trying to find you. I even went in the KAR shop and they had no idea where you were even though your over the road from them. My father is coming over to visit next friday for 10 days so we're hoping to get a 1.8m dish and quad lnb during that time. We'll pop down with some plans so you can advise us where you can fit it and on a price.

With regards to your emails, if you did reply to mine then they seemed to have got lost somewhere in cyberspace.
