Check that all the taps are switched off properly in the villa and that one of the toilets is not running as it is usually because of water running somewhere. Chris

Our pump was switching on every few minutes and we eventually found out we had leaky toilets. Once the fitments in the toilets were replaced the pump stopped switching on when it shouldn't.

Our problem was the non return valve on the bottom of our water tank on the roof passing backwards dropping the pressure and causing it to cut in.

Could be any of the above problems but sort it out quickly as your electricity bill will be sky high if you don't.

I have had so many 'tradesmen' check the same problem with the water pump and nobody seemed to be able to come up with a solution despite all varying checks and bits and pieces being replaced. The electric bills were just awful so now I only switch on when I need it and its no problem!

Had the same problem it turned out to be cheap toilet fitments, anyway it finally burnt out the cheap Chinese pressure switch on top of the pump which I replaced (easy job) with a good quality Italian one, had the toilets sorted with new better quality internals, problem solved.

deniz1, It's supposed to turn itself off when you're not actually using water - if it doesn't, then you have a fault - possibly but not necessarily - a leak. You really need to have the cause investigated if it doesn't turn off, as if there is a continual leak, it could damage your home - which would cost a LOT more than fixing the leek!
