Come and try Hoots in Ilgaz village, a small family run restaurant up in the mountains, Alsancak. Thursdays is a lighthearted quiz night with a cash pot and a cheap half time meal. Sunday evenings from 7pm is Sunday roast with live music by Anna accompanied by Hamza on acoustic guitar in a lovely intimate garden setting. Lunches and evening meals available. Bookings are prefered so call us on 8211029 or 0542 874 7305, look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you for the nice comments, we at Hoots took over from Belinda a year ago but only opened in January this year. There is myself and husband Murat who is Turkish Cypriot and sister at the moment. Business doing ok, the sunday nights live music is great, Anna could not perform last week but we had a couple of stand ins on guitar and violin who were excellent and turned out to be an instrumental jam session. Anna is back playing with Hamza this Sunday. i'm due to drop new baby boy in a week or so, getting nervous!

Nige - 30 mins to drive up to Ilgaz? We have friends who live in the village and they reckon it takes them approx 10 mins. When we drove up to visit in May (first visit so unsure of road at the time) it took us about 15 mins, but being quite a narrowish road, my husband did take it very steadily. I think by saying 30 mins drive up narrow, winding mountain road, may put people off visiting Hoots, which would be a shame as it really is a nice place in a beautiful setting.

Drove from Mambo today and it took 9 mins no way it takes 30 mins. It wouldn't take that in reverse gear.

Really it should take the average careful driver no longer than 10 minutes from Mambo up to Ilgaz. There are a couple of sharp bends but it is a well tarmacked road and a nice scenic drive. Obviously if your drinking then taxi's available from Deniz kizi hotel (10ytl approx) if your drinking and driving then you risk coming up to Hoots as much as you risk driving anywhere when your drunk!

All the best

We've taken friends, on several occasions this year, for a light lunch at Hoots and they've been delighted. The ambience and food take a lot of beating. Yes Sonia, we're eagerly awaiting news of the new arrival and hope you're keeping well. Good Luck for the new arrival and be sure to make a posting.
