I am looking forward to visiting Kyrenia next month. Are credit cards widely accepted in restaurants and shops in the area?

However as everywhere in the world, when using a UK. credit card, the exchange rate will be based on the tourist rate in the UK. & then further loaded for using a credit card. Your purchases will cost you significantly more than paying in cash TL, purchased locally.

As long as you bare this in mind, then no problem using a credit card here now.

If you have a Nationwide credit card its still fee free until 1st November. Debit cards as well just the rate of exchange on the day.

Post office is free and best exchange, however, you must inform your credit card issuer that you are visting TRNC otherwise you could have, I certainly have, problems when approvals are required, especially because of a lot of the spurious names used on the suppliers account

If you are bringing out cash, bring sterling and change to YTL here as you will get a much better rate.
