Can highly recommend Lagoon which is opposite Niazis in the harbour. Food is excellent, service discreet - very good indeed. Only been there for lunch but I should imagine evening Dinner would be even better with the view across the water.

Seconded! Their evening selection includes a huge fish meze at a reasonable price.

Gulers Fish Restaurant in Kervanseray on the right hand side of the road going down to the beach.

Missina in Karaoglanoglu near Address and Ambiance. Excellent fish dishes and very good service. Reasonably priced too.

Sirin Yali on the seafront at Karsiyaka. Very nice for a Sunday lunch with full meze. Always full of locals.

Be aware that they do not catch shellfish locally so it will have travelled and will not be cheap (if you can get it).

Hi Jakki We are both lovers of fish and have sunday lunch at Tatilsu Belideye every time we are out. You get 5 messi dishes bread and salad followed by the fish dish of your choice. The setting is wonderful right on the sea edge nothing finner in our opinion sitting there with a glass of dry white wine. Roll on September LOL I believe that it is open in the evenings until 9.00.

Can also reccomend the Lagoon in Girne they have something like a 15 course fish messi very filling.

The Fisherman just behind the harbour in my experience did lovely fish.

Unfortunately some idiot on this forum linked it with a food poisoning incident and despite asking for confirmation none has been forthcoming.

Typical irresponsible posting!!

I will still use it when I visit in July as I have done for years.

Msg15.

It wasnt posted by an "idiot" on this forum it was well publisied in the NC press, and I heard from a good source that it is still being investigated.

In saying that I went there 3wks ago and it was the worse meal we have ever had in NC.

Ani Restaurant in Catalkoy .Has been an excellent fish restaurant for years, and years, and years. Very few tourists find it but the Diplomats do OK.

Totally agree about Ani's, but what I do not like, is a bill given to you that is not itemised, I always feel uncomfortable with this as you cannot check anything!

Never noticed before , but then the thing to do is ask them to itemise the bill . Food is usually good though.

Message16 "good source" "still being investigated'? What was the source? Why did you eat there if it was under investigation? I have never had a dad meal there in many visits over the years

I must say I was expecting to find a lot more fish in NC both in terms of variety, quality and availability.

Also I found a lot a fish available in restaurants in general is farmed.

However I have found 2 distinguished restaurant for Fish that are good, I have not seen them mentioned here:

- One is Altinkaya, good service and food and nice view, and reasonably priced. Next to the Altinkaya beach.

- The other is Iskele Balik, by the Mercure Hotel, great position right on the sea. It closes at the and of August though. But definitely worth a visit before then.

I love fish... any other excellent Fish restaurants suggestions?

same road as the colony hotel , about half way up towards the roundabout, small place on left hand side nextdoor to a petrol station.

its a cypriot place to eat fish, it has a nice garden area outside for dinning in the summer, not to posh but great food.

sorry i don't know the name but have eaten there loads and loads of times, never had a bad meal yet.

East from town, before Essentepe or Tatlisu, you should try Benoz Fish Restaurant, or St. Kathleens, in Alagadi Village.

re 23 and 25, don't think that it is the Grapevine, I think that 23 is referring to a small place that is a fishmongers and butchers, but has a restaurant in the back garden. Went there last year and had the fish menu which was excellent. The Grapevine does not compare in terms of quality of food.

Sorry forgot to say also, agree that Ani's in Catalkoy is excellent - especially the fish baked in salt - you have to order the day before though.
