I need a person that can supply install a 120 cm offset dish to receive 2 channels on Thor5. The supply will be of satellite dish and reading head + cables. I have the receiver and the card (conax). This is a fixed job so don't keep yourself busy by offering packages from hotbird, SKY, DOPA or similar. If you need more information I can supply all details,

Can you tell us what package you are hoping to get?.... as sometimes folk THINK a certain size dish is enough...and it might not be.. One of the best sat installers in the whole of Europe works out of Kyrenia / Girne ( Iceman) and he would be sure to be able to advise you to ensure reception of the desired tv stations

I want to receive Canal Digital and I am looking for DR1 and DR2, further infgormation is avaliable on http://www.drsydeuropa.com They recommend a dish between 90 and 120 cm and an offset dish. I have seen a lot of talents the last month going from people that talk and just wasting time including one that want me to take a 180cm dish because this was he was used to put up to receive SKY Thank you for your comments.

me-style I did not try to sell you a 1.8m dish..get your facts right.!! I told you i only stock 1.8m dish because i ONLY do SKY systems. I was only trying to explain to you i could use the 1.8m dish i have on my workshop roof to look up the transponder you want to receive..(to give me an idea what size is necessary) You dont know what size dish you need for that service, you are only going by what you read on the internet. Now i see it was a mistake wasting time trying to help you!!

Iceman, thank you for your comment. you are right in some of the points you say but on the other hand you never told me to come by with the receiver and you would test it. You also have to understand I have spend more then 1 month on this issue so I really start to be filled up and need a solution and you were actually not the main problem in this so don't worry. I will see where this goes and I will get back to you.

Dear Me-style it now seems that you have the offer of a TEST on a 1.8m and the offer of help from someone who was Iceman's 'apprentice' If *I* were you I'd take up the offer of a test - first - and see how you go .. F;) Good luck

Mark,Icemans apprentice i dont think so,Agip worked for Tec Tan for 14 years. When he fitted my dish i was his first customer, but he had fitted 85 dishes for Tec Tan. And then carried on sub contracting for them.

Dear Rigsby ANYONE can fit a dish the size of a bin lid... It is a COMPLETELY different matter when it comes to bigger stuff... One guy imports his own stuff - one is an agent.. one guy is happily married and gets out of bed early ....one guy speaks and writes PERFECT English...

I watch Canal Digital on a 1.8m dish and it works fine, it may work on a 1.2 m dish also but I have not tested it. Note that only channels on the european beam (T2) will work here. We tried receiving the nordic beam (T1) but found that only vertical channels will work with a 4.2m dish.

re 11 Krikelin Thanks for you input .. I got the Nordic beam on a 3.3m in Limassol - a 2.4m / 3 m was too small.. re 10 Dear Rigsby, We BOTH know why they don't work together now... only one of them understood the value of keeping time ... As for making 4.2m.. I'm SURE you'll find Iceman has built FAR more...

Dear all, I have lived 14 years in Istanbul and one thing that hits me is when I see somebody gets over promoted then I really get suspicious. For my job I have today tested a 1,2 meter dish and it worked out as expected and with a good quality reading head I am sure this will work without any problems. The guy will install it and I will give my evaluation of this when ts in place as well as tell who have put it up. I look forward to receive my tv programs later this week. One piece of advise, talk with different people for your topic and choose one, when you find the people that you trust and they keep their promises of what they can do then stick to them.

>>>when I see somebody gets over promoted then I really get suspicious. <<< ) In THIS case you are just plain wrong... he is promoted 'coz he hasn't let folks down and knows his onions ..... Note: I am posting from the UK and have folk install dishes for me in the 'rump 'RoC .. I'm QUITE used to installing canal digital / Nordic packages on Thor in Limas(s)ol and when it rains or the tropospheric skip levels climb do you promise to come back and tell us "1.2m WAS too small" ;) Take care, Mark

I use my eyes, common sense and my experience from Turkey and I seen what you write. I will let this stand on its own and I hope people thinks one more time and look around. Case is from my end close and I don't have anything further to say as I do not want to spend my time sitting and typing mud.

Sorry, NO.. 'me-style' you don't 'get off' so lightly... You 'threw the first stone/ piece of mud' - I have seen this mentality SO many times.. Can't speak for other folks who advised you on here, but I don't get paid for my recommendations that come from years of experience in CYPRUS.. This isn't Turkey - I'm neither Cypriot, Greek or Turkish - and this wasn't a 'levant thing'... You are MUCH further to the east and more to the south ...

I'm sure there will be a 'queue' forming - there is a high demand for a thor dish that is too small for most channels )

me-style people like you make me laugh, you criticise Mark for recommending Iceman and say you are suspicious of recommendations but you do the same thing regarding Acip. Double standards me thinks!

The iceman is the main man in the TRNC, that is if you are looking for someone who knows what they are doing. Lots of people pretend they know what they are doing, but from experience the iceman is the only person who does.
