Hi everyone,

As there are a few ex UK pats amongst you, I wondered if someone could give me some help or advice.

I’d like to purchase a Digiturk satellite viewing card but they are very expensive in here in the UK (around £500) and I’ve seen how much cheaper it is over there.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to purchase direct from Digiturk and how to go about it – if so, are there any problems that may crop up with satellite receivers etc.

Regards to all

UKCodger - do you get over here? Can you not go into the Digiturk office and arrange a subscription?

do you already have a DigiTurk installation and no card? What are you planning to do with the card in the UK?

I dont have a Digiturk installation but I do have a motorised system with either a cam or a card reader. My understanding is the Digiturk card should work OK with this.

Anybody know different because the cards on sale here in the UK are supposed to work as such without a specialised box. I should also be able to pick up the programs on 7e.

As things stand, I dont have any immediate plans to come over there but any info is very welcome.

Thanks.

Groucho, One of the main reasons I'd like a Digiturk card is to watch English Premier league football. Subscription cards over here are generally "Sky" high and I was looking for a less expensive alternative.

UK codger there are some resellers in London that sell the Digiturk subscription - I am looking in to the same matter myself for the same reason.

Be aware though there are 2 types of subscription one for Europe and one for Turkey/Cyprus and there are different channels shown on each I am trying to clarify if the European subscription will show the Premier league as it defiantely shows the Turkish League

Will post when i get some more info

I spoke to one of the suppliers and he said they close the beam for Spormax when premier league games are on so it looks like its a no goer i'm afraid from this side of europe - I will love to be proved wrong

your best bet appears to be a tring card circa £200-£300

I can watch practically every premiership game with Digiturk in the UK.

What you need to do is to subscribe from TRNC, get Digiturk to install the dish and box in TRNC, then take the box and card to the UK. In the UK every channel is available with the dish pointing at Eulsat(I think that's how you spell it)

The full package including all premier games (but not including) Turkish football is around 50tl. The football only costs 10tl in that price, and now includes 2 channels.

If you have to ring Digiturk under no circumstance tell them that you are in the UK, If they offer to come round and re-align the dish you will need to refuse. I have had this system now for over a year with no problems.

You will need a direct debit to pay your subscription from a TRNC bank account.

Hope this helps

3qmifi, Thanks for that. I make several visits a year to north London so I could call in on one of those dealers if its worthwhile. A tring card is a no-goer because I cant get 16e due to a tower block across the road!

mmmmmm, the BT vision deal is only cheap if you go over to their broadband and phone service not very expensive compared to others - and they only cover Sky Sports 1 & 2.

Canavar, how do I get a box from TRNC? If I have travel over there it makes any savings pretty negligable!

Thanks to all so far - If any one else can advise me I'd love to hear from you.

Hi UK Codger!

re msg 12

I know folks think I'm 'pushing' SKY so this will dent that theory ! ... BT are offering to beat SKY's phone / BB prices and you can get ESPN, as well as Sky Sports 1 / 2 - the BT vision box works GRET as you can watch all iplayer / ITV/ C4 / Five stuff on your TV... NO stuttering ;)

Sadly only in UK .. :(

Cheers mmmmmm,

Another downside with BT Vision is that you have to pay about 100 quid for their box plus a set-up fee!

It all adds up to a big outlay!
