Any tips on what to use to do this? I've been using tap water so it's gotten blocked up.

Leave in diluted white vinegar overnight and then use bottled water after that.

Try DOPY Rust and Limescale remover.

It is very effective and cheap.

Fill with white vinegar and water mix half and half heat up then turn off . Put in a sink or anywhere where it can drain with sole plate down propped on say a couple of mugs or something so the drain holes are free leave overnight or at least 3 or 4 hours.

Then top up if its drained completely and re heat. Blast the water through if you can or just drain again

Then flush through a couple of times and clean of the sole plate should be good as new.

Hi Dizzie

"Clean mineral deposits from a steam iron.

Fill the water tank with White Vinegar.

Turn the iron to the steam setting and steam iron a soft utility rag to clean the steam ports.

Repeat the process with water, then thoroughly rinse out the inside of your iron."

Thanks for all the advice, I'll try the white vinegar option first as I do this with brown vinegar for my kettle and works great. I'll definately switch to bottled water thereafter.

Try limon salt, it works perfectly , is cheap and what my local neighbour told me to use it. We use it in the kettle, washing machine, shower head and iron.

Mrs Snakes

Lemon salt from Lemar or tempo, or the very big supermarket just outside Lefkosa.

Used gently on a soft damp cloth its great for removing water stain on glass shower screen too and it doesn't scratch.

After descaling all the crap comes out of the iron so be careful. Put the iron on steam and iron on some old cloth to get rid of all the limescale. Don't iron your best white clothes first or they'll be ruined.

Once you've descaled it with vinegar, use distilled water, which you can buy at most garages.

Limon Salt needs to be dissolved in water and the lime scale dissolves in the limon water so theres no lumps of deposite to worry about. Did the shower head yesterday and it's like new.
